Did you use pizza dough? I thought that was called or referred to as ‘elephant ears’? We used to make that and dusted it with powdered sugar or cinnamon/sugar.

Oh yeah that is one way of making them too. This is an old world recipe my grandmother used to make in the basement of her home ahead of every big family event or holiday. I have never made them, but my mother and aunt made them for this event yesterday, passed down from their mother. I am not sure if the dough contains yeast, I think it is not a yeast dough, so not like pizza dough, as ours come out crisp rather than chewy. It is a very simple dough that is fried in oil, kind of shaped like bowties or shoelaces. I brought a few home , I can take a picture. The ones we had yesterday were just lightly salted. There is a sweet version where people dust them with sugar or cinnamon, or honey etc.
