Um... can we say over kill? I am very doubtful of any actually benefits that these could give, with the exception of maybe really tight autox courses.

im pretty sure they were in a drift car, so they would want something high to keep the revs up to get sideways.

i dont' think its that overkill...i mean what road courses or autocross do you really get over 110??? like i dunno one of my main reasons for getting gears is that a lot of the back roads i take put me in that 30mph zone where i'm out of vtec in second but i'm not gonna downshift into first to vtec at 20mph...i can't stand that shit cuz it takes so long to get back to vtec..that and 2nd gear's vtec takes you up to like 70 and on back roads that gets kinda scary ....also...seriously wtf are you gonna do past 130? you change lanes your asking for death...high speed runs are worthless...gimme the gearing down low so i can have fun on backroads

Don't need to be in vtec constantly on backroads, in fact I usually stay just out of vtec so my gas mileage stays better and I just worry about taking good lines with smooth transitions.

You have to understand that many of these gear ratios are for racing only.

This way, it isn't such a penalty to run wider+taller tyres.

There are cars on the GT circuit running 5.1s but again, with huge racing tyres.

And some of these trannys are sequential. :-P

I could image this being helpful with a sequential tranny, and larger tires (outer diameter) makes sense as well, also drift makes sense.
