so i finally changed my oil today. been about 3500 miles since my last one.
picked up 5 quarts of 10W-30 (honda service guy, in person, told me 5-30, then i looked at the oil cap and it says 10w-30. i asked for 10w-30 because thats what the DIY on here said. any idea why he would say 5w-30? is he just an idiot?)
drained the old oil out and MAX 2 quarts came out into the pan. wtf.

turns out when i tighten my oil drain plug, it will tighten to where I cant move it with my fingers but with the socket Its real loose and if i try and tighten it further it it becomes looser. The threads on the plug look ok but hopefully if i replace it, that will solve the problem, otherwise i guess the threads on the oil pan are messed up?
So i started the car for 5 minutes and lo and behold a little oil dripped out of the plug even tho it was as tight as i could get it. about 10-15 drops
any input? i tested vtec and it works fine now but i am gonna stay out of it til i figure out what's going on.

needless to say , new hope run would be a bad idea til i fix this

u need enough oil to engage vtec properly. if you dont have enough oil it will start to break up, up top (around 7000rpms). if you only had two quarts i bet that could be the problem. You need to get the oil leak fixed. I would stay out of vtec until you do. If you are leaking oil that fast make sure you have a couple of quarts on you and you are checking it everyday.

most techs assume that all 4 cylinder hondas take 5w-30.

i got it taken care of thankfully.
I changed the oil again last night and bought a new drain plug which stayed in good and tight.
After reading some horror stories about drain plugs coming out while driving i started freaking out, but I made it ok.

thanks for the help
