another question... i know some people cut out the catalytic converter, this is supposed to give a little more power but i've also heard that cars with this done do not get pass inspection, is the catalytic converter easy to put back together?
They don't cut it, they remove it and add a test pipe. Apparently as long as you don't have a check engine light on the car, you will pass inspection with a test pipe. I would confirm this from people in your state.

If you live in PA, you CAN pass inspection with a Test Pipe (straight pipe that eliminates the Cat). You just have to "trick" the ECU into thinking you still have a Cat so that it doesn't throw a CEL. If/when you get that far, I'll let you know the "trick", or you can use the search function on the forum since all of these questions have been asked many times before.

well the test pipe cell fix doesn't use a resistor. It's a bit more simple then that. I just wasn't going to go through the explanation if you don't end up going with a test pipe. Yes, I'm lazy

I have an 05 also, and the reason I bought an 05 over an 06 is because of the DBW and the traction control. So what do you disagree on if you went 05?
I disagree with your statement that he should not consider an S2000 later than '05. There is absolutely nothing wrong with DBW, traction control, and stability control.

Well it depends from what perspective you're looking from. To some there is something VERY wrong with DBW, traction/stability control. Some S2000 purists will tell you that this car was originally built to be a high strung, RAW, roadster with no frills just thrills. Some will say over the years the cars progressively got more soft and more...pedestrian. DBW/TC/SC just adds to that opinion. Some will say the only traction control they need is their right foot.

Frank has his opinion, you've got yours. Time to agree to disagree

Well that's a pojnt I didn't consider, that the S2000 shouldn't have these features because of the mission of the car. I think that's a valid argument.

But what I don't think is a valid argument is to say that the function of an S2000 is degraded by the addition of DBW, etc. There is no way you can honestly say that a DBW S2000 (trac and stability turned off) feels any different behind the wheel than a non-DBW car. DBW is marvelously executed on the car and there is no lag whatsoever. If anything, the throttle response is snappier and more linear in a DBW car because of the typical slack in the S2000 throttle cable.

As for traction and stability control, given the amount of ZOMG I CRASHZORED MY STOOK threads flying around this place every times it rains 2 drops, I think it's probably a good idea for most people.
