Got lousy reviews. Well, okay, maybe not LOUSY reviews. What it actually got were luke warm reviews that called it something akin to a patchwork quilt of scenes rather than a cohesive story. Leaves me asking myself...did they read the book? That's exactly what the book was.

Unfortunately, by sounbiting the review into "a patchwork quilt" rather than analyzing the delivery of the story, they lose the point.

This movie, as a peephole into complete insanity and mental manipulation was BRILLIANT!

This film adaptation of Augusten Burroughs first installment of his memoirs was as captivating, funny and disturbing as his book...and a testament to the miracle that he not only survived his childhood, but lived to make a movie about it!

Excellent film. Pay full price. Buy a big bag of popcorn and prepare to dispel any myths that YOUR family might be the most messed up in history!

It WAS mentally frustrating to watch. However, having read all of his books (3/4 through the latest installment of his memoirs), I have come to expect that this is the flow of his writing.

To be honest...it sort of fits the insanity (literally and figuratively) of his life...
