Dates are fine by me! Where would we stay?
Working on that right now. Have a couple of possibilities (no, Alcoa isn't one of them ).
Bazinga!

I'm working on getting special rates at the General Francis Marion Hotel in Marion, VA which is right at the beginning of Rt 16 and BOTD.

It all looks fun and if I was in the area, I'd love to join you all. But, 11, try 32? Now take this: come to Arizona for a few more than only 32 miles. Route 666 Run is a magnificent 265 mile ride on one of the most scenic stretches of American tarmac, in commemoration of the birth and death of the once legendary Devil’s Highway.

It's now known as State Route 191 because the Route 666 signs were being stolen too often. 32? Take 265!

As long as there are mountains, we'll have great roads to drive. I've driven parts of Rt. 666 but never the whole thing. It is a beautiful road.

I have driven this road on my trips down and back from the Dragon - higher speeds are possible and yes there is the occasional trooper - word of caution VA confiscates radar detectors and fifines are stiff - so be cautious - you can easily hit 100 mph in places. That; being said- the road is a blast!

Has anyone ever heard of this road or ridden it? If anyone has, would you recommend it?

Route 16 in Virginia between Tazewell and Marion.

Haven't seen any additional comments by you regarding your BotD question.
In the last 12 days, two threads have been created; numerous follow-ups with officials, several hundred miles driven to scout out the route; a drive set up with hotel, meal, and magnets....
Thanks for asking the question. We are going to drive the heck out of the Back of the Dragon on July 13 and 14th.
Join us!!!!

True enough, there are places where you can hit 100...for about 10 seconds... I just drove about 20 amazing roads in the area and mile for mile, there are more interesting roads in the Marion/Tazwell area than any place I've been in quite a while.

WOW

My little question about the Back of the Dragon has started all this.

I would love to join the drive but those dates just don't work out well for me. I hope everyone has a great and safe time.
