Sorry, Raul is from New Bern, the home of Pepsi (which is fine by me).

Now that I think about it, there was only a choice of water or diet Pepsi when we got to Fontana Dam at 12:15.
And the bread, someone needs to tell Fontana that you can't make sandwiches the day before, my bread was stale on one side and mushy on the other.

There are some good suggestions here. I really like the idea of using the radios during the Poler Run. It may help people who are unfamiliar with the route or looking for a little sympathy when they are running late for a stop. Some other suggestions that I recieved for the Poker run involve getting more volunteers to handle the rush of cars. Another was to consider filling in hands for people who don't make all the stops. As for where we hold the event, there are a lot of reasons for holding it at Fontana. The Poker Run is one of those reasons. Moving to Alcoa, all but kills the event. An 1 1/2 hour ride out, a 2 hour drive around, and then the return trip makes it too long. I suppose I could cruise the Alcoa region for likely stopping places, but if we change the site location, I would have to know very early on, like in the next 6 monts so I can make the drive..

So why didn't you insist they move you to another cabin? There are plenty that have been freshly renovated. Sometimes you have to talk to a manager, but he's always been willing to try and accomodate.

I just didn't care after that. I wasn't going to move everything and all that fuss. This is the second time I've had trouble there. The first was the lock failing when we tried to get in and they had to put us in another room for the night with none of our gear. I'm not trying to make a huge deal out of it, I'm just not staying there again.

That being said, thanks as always. I did enjoy wtd as I always have.

I found Fontanta to be ok, the up keep of the cabins wasnt the greatest. We did watch a cabin 2 doors down see about 3 different visitors throughout one day, maybe something was dreadful with it? The room pricing wasnt too far off the year earlier when we stayed at the Microtel, which we found to have great service and dorm style rooms. It is about 30 minutes from Fontana depending on the weight of your foot. fontana is great for big groupings, and I found the lodge and village type aspect a nice attraction.

I've always stayed in a regular room, in the Lodge or cabana, and they have been clean and very comfortable. I like the "get our and wander around" atmosphere of Fontana.
