Default Visiting the Dragon for the second time

Coming from Mississippi

I was planning on heading there on monday night the 6th and stay til saturday to see the fall colors. Would this be a good time to see the fall colors or should I wait a little while for the full effect?

I was in NC mtns this past weekend and really nothing is changing yet. Some (very few) of the trees are slowly starting to change color, but if it is the changing of the season you are after, I think I would wait another 2-3 weeks to see any kind of significant change IMPO.
Next week, however, weather wise is supposed to be awesome..clear all week with temps in low to mid 70's in the day and mid 40's to low 50's at night here in Knoxville at least, probably a little cooler at the gap.

Here is the weather page link for Knoxville:

You guys interested in a 3rd? I might be able to go... and I could cut the cost down on the room/cabin.

I got my diff upgrade and rebuilt by puddydad a while back. It took me 6hrs to drop and another 6 to re-install <--something I definitely not want to go through again.

ok. we'll wait. plus i'd rather go when the fall colors are at its full effect

I'm pretty open with dates, so just ket me know what you guys choose. You guys will definitely want to set a date and call fontana to get a cabin in advance. If we put it in my name, I can use my "dragon slayers club" discount.

Any suggestions for dates?

I have this picture in my head of the entire mountain wearing red and orange, and leaves falling off while passing through the lake. Am I getting this right or do I have to go somewhere else for that kind of effect? Plus, when does it start to snow up there?

Let's think about when will be good for everyone.

BTW, how's the skiing up there?

That's about right....

I've seen snow in that area around Thanksgiving... not sure how much earlier it usually snows. Don't put this trip off for too long. Cold weather = Bad traction. Mid to late october at the absolute latest. It's already getting into the 30's there at night!
