Destroyed Engine
I had my car at Classic Honda in Orlando today. They have a torn down engine on their bench that was absolutely destroyed by a missed shift. Unfortunately I did not have a camera for a pic. This needs to be seen to be believed. Anyone in the Orlando area should go to Classic and get some pics. Ask for Jeff Keating, he said it would not be a problem. Hope the car wasn't somebody here (black w/red out of Brevard cnty). BTW, damage?...11-12k for all new motor, labor etc. Ouch! Be careful with the shifts!

I was just there about 2 hours ago. I seen the engine...and it is a mess. They were just putting it in a box for the owner to come pick it up. I didn't have my camera with me but when I go back later today I will take it. I have never seen anything like that before. The cylinder wall is in pieces, valves are turned the other way, huge marks in the piston from the valve, 2 valve springs and retainers were shot off. Crazy!

Let this be a lesson for us tomorrow, be careful working through those gears! Out of curiosity how easy is it to miss a shift? Did the person go from 5th to 1st? Wouldn't the transmission lock this out somehow?

Yup....I did this. The first week i owned mine. My car was repaired at Hollar Honda though. Honda was nice enough to do some loyalty help and paid half of the cost for the valves, guideds and head to be done. I think i paid 1800 bucks. I was shifting to 4th gear..or so i thought....went to second instead. was not a pretty sound.
