from what i read the blown tire could have been before or after going off. But, even i understand that scenario and he didn't seem to endanger anything other than himself and an orange tree. Either way i wasn't witness to it ... that's why i asked.

I don't need his email ... nor would i "like" to confront anyone about this.
I just want everyone to be fully aware of the consequences of not being fully aware of their actions. The BMW did not pull out into oncoming traffic without having fully assessed his options ... that's my biggest concern here.

Scott, thanks...I appreciate you watching out for everyone. I agree that we should be focused more on safety on group drives instead of showing off or taking risks.

I have been on three group drives. Two were to Willie Gee's and the other to Pembroke Pines for the South Florida Megameet.

I was never aware of the no-pasasing rule as I have seen others pass on the drives...So... To those that I may have passed, I am sorry. I didn't know any better.

I have been an S-2000 owner for only 15 months. Hopefully I will be forgiven under the "Newbie Clause".

The no-passing idea is based on an agreed process with each particular group. As far as I know it didn't apply to this last drive.
However, I actually remember (at the beginning of the meet) ZacksDad stating only to 'pass with care' and to avoid any risky situations especially involving people not involved with our drive (bicyclists, motorists, etc.) and to always be curteous. I thought we all agreed.

THAT condition was not heeded by one of the participants. If there is any argument with my thoughts on this subject - then those persons need to take them up with me with opinions based on facts. Let's not dilute this with what happened 'last time' or 'we never have before'.

I'm not looking to induce malice with this thread. I just need to know that when we all get together on a drive it's clear that certain conditions apply when involving 'spirited' actions. The basics should be simple ... don't jeopardize the health of an innocent (motorist or otherwise). PERIOD!!!

Call it a moto ... mission statement ... whatever. But I will have a hard time understanding if everyone can't sign-off on this idea.

this is silly ... there is no excuse for the actions and especially the justification by a member and a Community Organizer:

jvrabel "Poor judgement indeed but you gotta do what you gotta do when you make a bad call or you end up worm food."
>Wrong ... you don't have to do it. Measure twice ... cut once.

PrimoGen "when the group gets broken or held up, people make sometimes less than perfect decisions while playing catch-up."
> When it involves threatening the well-being and health of innocents there are no less than perfect decisions.

This may be my last thread based on the reactions to these statements. I will apologize for any unpleasantness this has caused. I know that my perspective isn't always shared and that my ethics are strict. But, be assured that they are with merit.

Remember this ... i care about everyone: no walls - no limits.

Bandiscoot i hear you and it's time for you to join the vintage crew. honestly, think about it, no one can control a "group" drive. i was not there but i have been on many group drives, both leading and following, and there is no way to "totally" control the herd. stupid shit happens, period.

Bandiscoot don't take it personally, i like you.

Radio - there is a control factor in every scenario. I'm not saying that one person can control the 'herd'. But safety is still a responsibility of every person and should be EXPECTED. At this point I think I'm also saying that i don't agree with the reaction or the tolerance from some people within this community.
Why would I want to join the 'Vintage Community'? Is that 'herd' controlable? No, of course not. But when something like this happens i expect notes to be taken, an interest in understanding the problem, and a process to make the next event a better one. Example: making the incident public including the corrective action. "Opera, non verba"

And here is a REAL scenario for everyone to contemplate. Had someone been injured in this situation the courts could easily find 'comparable negligence' on the part of this website and it's officiants. Once that happens then this electronic forum could be monitored or even banned. If you'd like detail history of this legal precedence just let me know.

I will remain silent about this subject and abstinent from further group drives/meets until the group can agree on this topic. I think it's time that this group and it's CO's have a poll and decision on this matter. I will be on the outside looking in from this point forward. Avoidance of this matter will also be a indication of non-interest ... and will answer all my questions.
