IWAS WRONG!!!! Nyquil contains another sleep aid antihisamine, Doxylamine succinate. It also contains acetominophen (tylenol) Chronic use of any over the counter medication can be a bad thing. If you are having troube sleeping, see your physician. Something may be wrong that can be fixed.

<= knows enough to be dangerous
I asked my doctor about six months ago. He said the Tylenol PM wasn't bad and if it was working for me to just keep taking it.

Holy crap - I just found this thread by accident!

Grant, I'm very glad you're home to recoup and all my best wishes go out to you for your future MV replacement.

Mitral valve replacement is about as major as a surgery can get, and I've done anesthesia for many patients having this procedure. Fortunately, this procedure is quite routine, as it's done every day at the hospital where I work, and at most other major medical centers, as well.

I have total confidence that your surgery will go well, and you will survive and be able to fish, drive your S, and be with us for many more years to come.

The short recovery period is no day at the beach, though. Get psyched up, and be ready for the challenge. Remember, normal people go through this surgery all the time, and if they can hack it, you can too.

We are all here to support you. Lean on our shoulders when you feel the need.

-Pete

PS - If you get a mechanical valve (as opposed to a porcine valve) it makes a "ticking" sound - like a little motor in your chest.

Thanks Val

Kodokan I'm hoping they can do a valve repair. Or at least a cow or pig based valve instead of a mechanical one. I'd like to be as chemically maintenance free as possible afterward.

When I was a kid I had 2 neighbors involved in the invention of heart valve. Guys names were hunter and wagonsteen.Hunter had 2 dogs both with valves in them. We'd put our ears against them and listen to them click.

thanks for the thoughts
