Thumbs down GROUP DRIVE!

I have had an abundace of requests and some threats to my safety if I dont so I think it is time we put together another drive.

Here is the scenario:

We have several options as to ideas so I will list the ones that I have and open it up for more ideas.

A week or so from now, I will consolidate the options and start a poll. I will sticky the poll for a week and then tabulate the results and start some planning.

I will be shooting for something later in the year after the SFL mega meet thing in Sept. (lets shoot for late october early Nov).

OPTIONS SO FAR:

1. A redux of our 4 group drive from early this year. I will be ammending the course to avoid some of the farm roads. Scott (zacksdad2) is a master road finder so I may need some of his help (HINT HINT, Scott). Not that spirited drives are bad but some of the SO's did not like the "race feel" of the last one so I am shooting for a more laid back approach on this idea

2. A weekend drive down to key west. Think like a Friday through Sunday gig with a possible deep sea fishing excursion in the middle. This will take some serious planning (room blocks and stuff with hotels and reservations at resturaunts and the boat) so we need to be serious about this if we choose it.

3. Full day course down to Sarasota area with stops at Armands Circle and a possible cookout at a park/beach. I know a version of this just happenend but many of us were not able to attend so I am putting it out there

beyond that, the floor is open for more ideas. It will take a little time but we can make a good run out of any idea we decide on.

I am off to get a FL gazetteer!!!

You well already know that I am in for this event. Let's see what the friends want for a driving route and I will assist in any way that I can.

The only add that I throw in here is that if we keep it somewhat central, the entire state can hopefully participate. I still like the idea of The Don Garlits Drag Racing Museum being a part of the drive.

The Captain's Thoughts:

December is pretty full already with the holidays and such. I think november would be better.

How about a spirited drive one day and then a more sedate activity for the second day.

Perhaps we could park the SO's somewhere for a day activity, Drivers can head off for an insanity check then meet up with the SO's for the evening festivities.

Coquina beach in manatee county would be ideal for a big picnic. It is just a hp skip and a jump down to St Armands. Hilsboro river state park would be fun too.

Something central would be great. Beginning of November would be great too. Can't wait.
