Just checking for some input on what people thought about the service departments of Honda in the Tampa, St. Pete., Clearwater, Sarasota area. I need to get some warranty work done on the s2k and Tampa Hondaland and or Lindell Honda are out of my list.

Hey wchin and dhoward. Do you guys happen to have the phone number to anyone in HONDA of America? We need to get in contact with them about some issues at one Honda Facility.

WDAVIS pointed me towards Billy Walker at Classic Honda in Orlando. He's a great guy and truly loves the S2000. I'd take it to him. Shoot, I drive it to him from Plant City just for routine service! A great customer/service tech relationship cannot be understated.

I've had really good luck with Scott Bunker at Honda Cars of Bradenton, they've done my tranny, top latches, window motor (twice) TSBs and are going to be doing my 15K service/valve adjustment this week. JROSEN said he really liked Sun Honda in Sarasota's service. I've had multiple bad exp with their sales dept, but he said service is great.

Don't go to AutoWay Honda in Clearwater!!!! That is unless you want the mechanic smoking in your car revving the engine....

Have you been to Hondaland since they built the new place? Supposedly they're better now. I don't know.. Maybe an Acura dealer with a guy that specializes in NSX's and S2000's? All I know is that my service at Acura is sooooo much better than when I had a Honda and took it to Lindell.

well here's an update on my 15K service/ valve adjustment at Honda of Bradenton.
Dropped the car off on the way to work, they brought me the rest of the way to the office, I picked it up at 4:30 everything was great BUT...
He told me they had a minor problem, they scratched the valve cover
BUT they had already ordered me a new one, will be in tuesday.
They left 2 little 3/4" scratches across the front of the top of the cover, just barely through the red wrinklecoat.
I understand accidents happen, we're all human and all that. I'm just glad they told me up front and had already taken the steps to make it right. I didn't have to "discover" it, nor call and bitch,or argue that they did it- not me, none of that BS.
He said "I knew we had to have done it, since if you had done it yourself beforehand, I figure you probably would have been in here ordering a replacement already". He knows how us S owners treat our cars

On the other hand, after the valve adjsutment, the car idles so much smoother and sounds a lot better. Before, I could hear a little bit of ticking at idle next to a curb or wall and a little bit of clatter if I held it steady at like 5500 in 2nd or 3rd. I think he said most of the intake valves were a little loose and a couple of the exhaust. Don't have the paperwork in front of me, but I think that was the case.

So even in light of a minor oopsie, I can still fully reccomend Honda Cars of Bradenton, specifically Scott Bunker in Service.

I have read a number of people going in for Valve Adjustments....is that something that is mandatory, or just something that you would reccomend? I hadn't heard anything about it. I could use some additional info on it...and if there is anything else I should be doing at certain times..thanks.

According to Honda the recommended service intervals for valve adjustment is 105,000 miles, OR if the valve train is noisy. Many owners have adjusted their valves even when there wasn't any noticeable noise at 15-25,000 miles and reported that they were out of specification. Here's an excellent, informative thread to read: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...alve+adjustment

In my case two of the valves were very slightly out of spec and idle smoothness improved after the adjustment.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

I had something like 9 valves that needed adjusting. And it made a HUGE difference.
