I'm not from Orlando but to the best of my knowledge there are'nt really any major road closures and the theme parks are open. There still seem to be some people without power but as far as the tourist trade goes, nothing to really be concerned about. On the other hand, if anybody in O-town (or anywhere else hit by Charley) needs help cleaning things up let me know, I can get a chainsaw and some generators and be up there this weekend. I've seen the damage done to Polk county and Lee county / Pine Island and I'd be glad to help in any way that I can manpower-wise (I'm too broke right now to help financially).

I work in Orlando and besides a lot of down trees and power lines, we're OK. Some parts are still without power and it's somewhat hard to find gas but things are getting back to normal. As far as the tourist trade goes, I think you won't be impacted. Just check with the airline you're flying on to see if they're service has been impacted. The Orlando airport got hit pretty hard.

What happened to the other hurricane thread. It has magically disappeared.
I'd like to know as well, I think I called the turn long before it happened on the original thread. Now I can't prove it.

Anyway, New Smyrna got roughed up a bit. Many trees are down, but only a few houses hit. We had a few tornados as well, and a couple of roofs are missing. But all in all we came out OK. Most of the newer beachside homes are able to withstand catagory two storms, so the cat one we got wasn't too bad. I'm glad I don't live near oaks though. My house came out totally unscathed. I can only imagine what Maitland and Winter Park look like. :zoiks!:

I guess we won't forget Charley anytime soon.

Thanks for the info!
I called my Aunt in Springhill and she said all they got was some strong winds and a little rain! I was mostly concerned with the availability of working gas stations. I know there was a lot of power outages.
