I've heard $500 for it and it can only open .PDF files (no word, works, powerpoint, etc.). Seems to me it does a lot of things, just none of them very well. For me, I already own an Ipod, digital camera, laptop, and a phone that all work. Why do I need 4-in-one?

Cool phone, but no thanks for $500.
Thats wrong, it can open word documents and excel files. Not sure about powerpoint though.

The selling point of the iPhone for me is that it can do all of the things that regular smart phones can, just better. Faster, smoother interface, ergonimically tuned to perfection. That is exactly why the ipod dominated the market, because it could do everything that other mp3 players could, just BETTER.

I will be getting one when my contract is up in August, because I DO want all 4 of those things in one

I also read the SIM card is internal. So no switching from your uber expensive iPhone to el shitty phone to go to the beach!

I'll keep my Blackberry Pearl. Does what I need it to do and its small.

Cool

give it a year and the technology will allow it to get smaller/slimmer whatever. personally I dont think I would want any phone that is razor thin or small.

Personally, I would want it to be resilient to a fair degree. i would not want to be constantly worried about breaking my credit card sized 500.00 phone. to that end I dont know why companies like apple and sony insist on making products that have high gloss finishes. this and the PSP and the iPod that are incased in high gloss finishes accept scratches and scars so much more easily than other finishes. Give me a functional and replaceable rubberized metal case and some ribbing (for her pleasure) to ward off some wear and tear and make a prodcut designed to last for more than a year for a change.

I know that goes against the current business model of making people buy new products over and over again but my design would allow for multiple hardware upgrades and allow for replacement of the parts designed to receive wear. I would make the money on my product through upgrades and desigining a superior lasting core product rather than some shiny stylish highly tempramental oil slick design.

Just imagine all of the cases and protective films they are going to have to come up with for that touch screen (if a protective screen will even work with it).

Eh, no interest in a $500 phone. No interest in overpaying for an Apple logo either.

No flash or java support in the browser either btw. Not that I use my phone as a browser but it makes their commercials somewhat humorous with that whole "real internet" thing, yet no support for two well used plugins... oh and quite limited javascript processing time.. (well not limited if the code is written correctly, but I'm sure we've all seen some really poorly coded crap before..)

yeah, even if you want one for web browser, wait for the new version in 3 months.
