Hubby and I scored 2 of the 4g's! I must confess that I am surprised we were even able to do so. He went in line at 4:30 at our local Cingular store and I showed up a little after their reopen time of 6:00. And they were probably approx 30 people in our line with another Cingular just down the street and they ran out of stock. Cingular said they could order them from Apple and have them shipped straight to ya but that's no different than if we ordered straight from Apple. Couldn't get a ETA or nada. But there was a def. demand for them. There was a family behind us in line that all wanted the 8g one ($599.00 ea). I'm thinking maybe we need to join that family if they could afford to drop that kind of money for phones for the family. lol
Anyway, we posted ours on E-bay and see if we can't wind up earning enough cash to get one free for the hubby. I can't justify spending that much for a phone, though I do agree that phones are THE fashion accessory and have surpassed watches. Personally, I want a pretty deisgner fashion phone. Lucky Europeans.

P.S. I hear that the Mac stores were all receiving 1000 phones in stock and it's 2 phones per person limit. (Cingular stores is one per person.) Millennia Mall's Apple store had already 200 people in line early this morning. Yikers!

Yeah people shouldn't have bothed with the ATT/Cing stores so much, the apple stores had PLENTY of stock.

If the big style/fashion areas are like Tampa, people will be returning them instead of making a profit on ebay Hopefully NY/LA, etc all sold out so people can make some cash on idiots who think a phone is work 1k+

Crappy network + bad internet.

Smart marketing getting Apple to sign an agreement.

Funny my mom has Cingular and just called my home phone while I was typing this and the call dropped.

I got the iPhone. I got inline at our Apple store at 9:30am and it was fun waiting for it. I have to say it lives up to all the hype. Ive been reading all the negative comments and reasons people say they wont get one and so far after using it and seeing all it can do I can say those reasons dont have much merit, but to each his own. It does everything I want it to do and the few things it cant do will be released soon via software updates. Thats the great thing about it, any shortcomings can be remedied with software updates.

A software update will make a user replacable battery? Now that's slick software!

I'm sure the iPhone is great.. for $150-$200.

The battery thing is really a non-issue. It will need replacing after around 400 charges. Most people dont charge theirs every day but if you do you will have over a year before it needs replacing. Every phone I have had needed a new battery after about a year, some less. I have had to pay about $50-$60 for replacement batteries. The iPhone battery replacement is $79 I believe and its a 3 day turn around time. I can live with that.
