What Scorpion and I talked about today summed it up pretty well. There are several S2000s running a stock intake and TB and have over 600 hp. Unless you build the head, cams, and exhaust manifold to flow an incredable amount of air ITBs really won't help much.

That being said it would be really cool to see one and you may get a little better throttle response.

I don't know man...that dyno pretty much does it for me. Stock engine with just the ITB's and a tune...look at the HP increace in the midrange, especially at VTEC engagement. To me this picture is worth the couple thousand dollars $$

Add a decent header, exhaust, flywheel combo to that and you've got yourself one decent a$$ N/A S2000...

I see an increase of 14whp and 15wtq... but I also see the addition of an AEM ECU. Many have seen similar numbers (and often better) with just the AEM ECU alone! If that graph is meant as an enticement for the use of ITBs, it fails in its job. I'm not saying ITBs are worthless, just the opposite, but that "evidence" is practically worthless for the point being made. Kind of like saying a next door neighbor is guilty of a murder I committed because they were in the area at the time...

Once again, don't look at peak numbers. Look at the midrange...VTEC engagement to be precice. I count almost 40 rwhp increase in that range....same for torque shortly after. If the VTEC engagement point was set even a slight bit earlier than where it is in that dyno, you'd see even more area between the curves.

It's not all about top end. I spend less than .01% of my time at peak. Almost the entire time I'm driving I'm hovering +/- 1500 RPM from VTEC engagement. In my case, that extra 40 some odd HP when I need it most is valuable enough for me to consider this the optimal way for me to attain my goals. We all differ, but I'd go ITB before I'd go boost.

...Plus ITB's are pure sex

Dumb Question: HP Vs. Top Speed - If I have a 600 WHP S and a 210WHP which has a higher top speed?? Is increase in HP going to raise my top speed or only how fast I get to my top speed??

I understand the want and need to go from point a to point b fast, but are you guys that go FI and ITB and all that groovy stuff making the car faster on the top end or just able to get to a certain speed quicker??

Inquiring minds want to know

The top speed of the S2k is aerodynamically limited. Drag will normally cause the car to stop accelerating just after 150mph. Gearing allows the AP1 to get to 166mph...so if you have a tail wind or down hill run etc you can get to the geared limit, but the engine usually runs out of steam to move the air out of the way before then.

More hp allows you to overcome the drag and reach the geared top speed. It will also allow you to accelerate more quickly to reach that top speed.

I wish I had the funds right now to go and do this. I might guinea pig this idea...it's just going to take me awhile. I see your bet, and I agree with it, but I'm just going to have to raise you

since you're an '06, you're probably going to have the most issues with attempting to get the throttle plates to work correctly...right now your throttle body is drive by wire...all other s2k's have a manual linkage...
TPS and IAC are also going to pose issues w/o a stand alone computer.
I emailed Jimmy from Fujuracing and I asked him about the problem what wildcardtrd said 06 S2ks might encounter with when installing the ITB and I also asked him if the AEM comes with some sort of basic map already installed in it for his set up.. Heres what he responded...

Alex

Just like the RX-8's your throttle is controlled by the ECU. With my IRTB kits the (TPS)Throttle position sensor is included. So you should not have a problem. I have to check w/AEM to see if the connectors from an earlier S2000 is the same as an '06. AEMPOWER.com has alot of good info. Base maps come with all of their plug & play systems.

it seems like theres no basic base map included in the AEM EMS when purchased with Fuji's ITB for that specific set up, only the ones AEM includes..its just basically a package deal.. idk..seems a little expensive for just the AEM EMS, lil over price.... unless iam reading it wrong..??!!?
