So it finally happens! After being so careful since the day I brought her happily home, she suffers an injury and is hit!
It happened in the Publix parking lot in Altamonte Springs last night after getting fixings for dinner. I had just pulled out of my parking space when to my left I see someone reversing into me, so naturally I lay on my horn so she would see me. Instead, I hear (over my horn) CRUNCH! So I park and she parks and is immediately on her cell phone. Naturally my day is going so well that I actually forgot my cell at home and tell the young girl that I'm going into Publix to call.
The poor girl hit my left fender and it now has a "nice" crease and dent. The cop was cool but because it was on private property he can not issue her a citation. So now I'm dealing with my insurance carrier, Allstate, and unsure what to do in regards to body shop work.
Allstate recommends some shop on John Young Pkwy called Sterling Auto Body that I have never heard and whom is owned by Allstate. If I use them, then all the work done is guaranteed by Allstate but I'm worried that they may cut corners and do it cheap, not right. Otherwise I have to deal with an adjuster and have them give me an estimate of damage/cost, the waiver to do repairs and I can go to whomever I wish. However, then if they underbid the estimate I have to deal with the headache of getting them to pay for the actual cost of repairs.
Has anyone even heard of this shop? Anyone know of another reputable shop to go to?? There wasn't a single Honda dealership on the Allstate guaranteed list for me to go to. I currently have an appt. with the adjuster on Saturday who is located at Sterling so that I can check the place out and speak with them. However, I still want to cover all bases.
My poor baby!
Up close and too personal.
Damn, those calipers look great!
I can open the door but not all the way without the door grinding on the fender. So I now find myself trying to remember when getting out of the car, "DON'T open all the way!"
What will happen is I will have to pay my deductible so that I can go ahead and it get my car repaired. Afterwards, Allstate will go after the other driver's insurance company for the full cost of the repairs, including my deductible.
So I don't think this counts against me as I'm not at fault. So my insurance shouldn't raise.
this happened to my x (wife at the time) to this day we never received our deductible back. accident was from 2004. Never saw that money again. Good luck
Yeah, I'm grateful that it wasn't the door b/c if she had shifted that at all my door would never be the same. So whew! However, the paint on the inside of the door by the fender is either scraped off in areas or peeling b/c of it's rubbing against the fender.
