and people keep saying the thieves will trash your seats but i have not yet to hear this happen to one member yet. Worst case is you get your top cut. $60 for seat locks is worth it. It's like having a civic with a gsr motor. You cant leave it out or someone will steal it
i'm not saying they WILL slash your seats ... but, we're talking thieves here. They already don't care about the condition of the car if they're willing to slash the top.

I think i look at this problem in a different perspective than most. Like i mentioned earlier ... leaving an empty box of pistol ammunition in the front seat definitely helps Oh, and to quote a line from one of my favorite songs " Where i come from ..." we don't have that many problems with this kind of theft Just trying to find my car up here in North Marion County can be hazardous to anyone's health

Should have bought the seat locks that Kodokan 4 sells . I leave the top down in my car when I go alot of places , that is as long as I will not be away from the car to long . Makes it easy to see the locks and the asshole dont cut the top to find that out . Its f-in BS none the less .
I'm scared to leave my top down. I have a Ricks TI shift knob

I used to be an alarm installer.
Install is the most important part of an alarm. it should only go off if someone is messing with your car. you will loose the top if they try to get in , or simply don't hook the alarm up to the doorlocks. that way they might open the door and haul ass instead of causing damage.
Seats locks work. Personally I would much rather have to buy skins and some foam for my seats than go through the hassle of buying new seats. Custom skins can be had for under 1000.00

If you own a nice car and don't take steps to alarm it, and in our case get seat locks, then you will simply wind up another statistic.

I have done the research, the number of S2000's that been been violated without security measures is over 20:1 to those that have an alarm and seat locks.

Get it installed. If it goes off in the rain get it re-adjusted. DO NOT turn it off in a rain storm, that is a ploy of the bad guys. set it off enough times and the owner shuts it down....

it should go off if someone breaks the glass, cuts the top (proximity sensor), or it someone opens the door. beyond that you should never hear it. While my S is garage my element is not, and it has a nice alpine in plain view..... it never goes off.....

if you have any questions, I'm happy to answer them, If you are in South Florida. I have a shop that I can recommend that has worked on a bunch of S2000's

Here are the options as I see it.

1) Replace your own seats with RECARO seats. I don't see many thieves stealing after market seats, mostly OEM.

2) Alarm with remote that notifies the owner via cell or key chain when it is going off.

3) A baseball bat for the above incident so you can go outside and claim your F'ing property.

those are good options ... except number 3 ... cuz if you just hurt the thief they WILL sue you!

remember the premise of 'imminent danger' in this state ... and use it whenever possible

Sorry to hear about this again!!! Thats two since that freakin news report.....

Soooo how much are we talking for a decent alarm with all the things your guys are talking about, and how far do those key chain remotes go? I am probably a good 1/4 miles from my car while I am at work and would get in trouble if my car was going off all the time.

Also does someone have a link for the seat locks? Don't you have to get your VIN verified on here before you can buy em?

Why is it that aftermarket seats don't get stolen? I would think they are worth more money.

Never had aftermarket seats on any of my cars before. Are they harder to steal?
