Default Soft Top

Hi,

I need some suggestions for fixing my soft top. It has stopped functioning completely. It originally started with the passenger
window slowly not working and then it completely stopped functioning. Now the soft top will not function either, I cannot put
it up or down at all. I already replaced the passenger window motor, driver's side switch, and convertible control module. I
also had the alarm guy and some guy at the honda dealership look at the car and they found nothing wrong with the wiring.

Before I buy the switches for the passenger side to see if that fixes it, does any body have any experience with this type
of problem before and what solutions are available for this problem?

thanks

omar

I'd check your relays. Maybe replace them? Sounds like a bad motor. How old is the car?

This s strange no wiring issue, not blowing any fuse(s) The door window should have nothing to do with the top not working but the under lying issue most likely does. I'm guessing you have a short that is being missed. You may need to take the car to a wiring electrical specialist.

I have a window switch you can try out to see if it fixes that issue.

there are two motors for the top. odds of both going bad at the same time are slim. Get the manual for the car, and trouble shoot the electrical.

I noticed in the first post I had a few mistakes.

This is what is going on with the car. The soft top DOES go up and down with no problem. The driver side window goes up and down, but the passenger side window DOES NOT go up or down.

I have already replaced the motor for the passenger side window thinking that the window motor died because a few months before this problem happened that window would slowly raise up and in some cases would need to be assisted in order to close all the way. Which I thought were signs of a dying motor.

I then replaced the drivers side main switch which did not make a difference, I then took the car to the honda dealership where I know a friend that works there and everything seemed ok ( checked fuses, wires, power to motor) , the only thing he said that might be the problem was the convertible control module. I replaced the module and it did not make any difference what so ever.

Now the only thing that is left to change would be the passenger side window switch. But from my understanding even if the passenger side window switch is broken shouldn't the main switch on the drivers side still work to power the passenger window up and down ? I just do not want to keep sinking in hundreds of dollars with out a solution.

If anyone has had a similar problem or suggestions that would be great.

If the top is working as it should then it may just be the window switch. I have an extra if you want to plug it in to give it a try.

You really need to troubleshoot this issue. You have to remember that when you hit the convertible switch (up or down), both windows go down at the same time. There has to be either a relay bank or some sort of controller for the windows. I hate replacing parts without knowing, but if you have a buddy with another S, perhaps you can borrow the window and top switches, to see if that here your problem lies.

Good luck

My brother is bringing in an alarm guy to take a look at all the wiring again. We will see what happens .
