Stickies!?
You are dealing with two different things, James.
I also have not seen anyone complaining about the Events Calendar not being used. Could it be that no one really cares enough to PM our all knowing CO's. If you guys think it is that important, then use it. It is not utilized and should therefore be removed.

No, Dave I am not. If the event calendar is that important to you, why don't you update it CO man? I don't pm you guys the info because I don't think the calendar is important. People are going to look in the threads for meet info instead of an Events Calendar that may or may not have up to date information.

I'll start pm'ing you
btw, for future reference and for everyone's use, the local SCCA autocross' official webpage with calendar is http://www.cfrsolo2.com

I've been updating the Orlando meet calendar date info since Dec 2006. This past week, yeah, I didn't post up a meet. My fault.
If you guys don't PM us info to add to the EC, you can't blame us for it not being updated.
For example: I'm not a member of the SCCA, so I don't have any info about upcoming autocrosses. Nate--you want that info posted, PM us.
James-you're thinking about having a Mod Day at your house (or whatever you think is important enough to post on the EC)--GREAT!, let us know, we'll add it to the EC.
The EC is only as good as what we're given. Can it be better-yes. Should it be dumped? I don't think so (my opinion).

If we want to keep the calendar, it needs to be more flexible and user friendly. We need to allow more members to update it. ie.. Auto cross guys from the different areas Zeropsi from Jax, wildcardtrd from Orlando, The CO's or the various community organizers like negcamber, myself, and Ishbu of the Tampa crew. That way we can keep it up to date and if something changes we don't have to wait for pm's to be read by whatever CO happens to be home at the time to update it. It will also allow it to have all the correct information since the ones updating the calendar would be the ones putting the event together.
ummm....
The timing of this thread is curious.
If you want to be able to update the calendar that is fine. PM me your info and I can give you access, so long as you are a contributing member. Sometimes, especially during the good weather months, Florida Florida S2Ki events can fill your weekends, and oftentimes you won't be able to make it to all the events. The calendar was one way of keeping all the info organized. We should use it more. If Nate wants to post all the SCCA events, I would use it all the time. It's hard keeping all these events organized in threads, it's much easier for me to look at a calendar and plan my next few weeks.
I voted to keep all the stickies. They're not getting in our way and all are useful. I don't see many S2Ks in my area and when I do I like to post and look and see if someone saw me.

I voted to get rid of all 4 of the stickies. To me they are worthless. I'm speaking from the perspective of a new person that would like to know what is going on in the area. I haven't been an active member for a few years, so I was searching for local meets.
I looked at the events on the calender, and I found the Orlando meets. I then came to find a thread saying that the meeting place is at different location, but that thread was for the previous week. Someone added to the old thread. In other words, I found the acutal meeting place by chance.
If I had just looked at the calender, I would have went to the wrong place. I agree, at a minimum, the local organizer needs access to update the calender. It looks as though cthree in Toronto has access. That doesn't do us much good if we decide to change the meeting place to make it more accessable to everyone that is interested that week.
I think the easiest answer is to have a what everyone seems to be suggesting. Three stickies for the three major area meets. Have the meeting organizers PM the admin. The admin locks the thread, and everyone knows where and when to go.
Just my two cents.
