Seriously, we didn't have one problem with the Orlando Meets Sticky Thread to begin with.

But I like Dave's list and we should vote on it

ummm....

The timing of this thread is curious.

If you want to be able to update the calendar that is fine. PM me your info and I can give you access, so long as you are a contributing member. Sometimes, especially during the good weather months, Florida Florida S2Ki events can fill your weekends, and oftentimes you won't be able to make it to all the events. The calendar was one way of keeping all the info organized. We should use it more. If Nate wants to post all the SCCA events, I would use it all the time. It's hard keeping all these events organized in threads, it's much easier for me to look at a calendar and plan my next few weeks.

I voted to keep all the stickies. They're not getting in our way and all are useful. I don't see many S2Ks in my area and when I do I like to post and look and see if someone saw me.
The timing of this thread was due to the innability to locate the thread for last week's meet, which turned out to be because Dave forgot to make one
If the weekly meets were still sticky, alot more attention would have been brought to the fact that no meet was sheduled that week...

Just my $.02

...And I'd love to be able to put up all the SCCA stuff onto the calendar

We did have our weekly meet. Me, Willie Gee, NegCamber, billiardboy & his + 1, SweetJ, SR71BB, KeithD, MulderATO, Lesismor, Meeyatch, Mocky, Shareall, and about 75 if not more owners showed up.

Pics from last weeks meet.

It just so happened that the meet was held in Alcoa, TN.

I take the blame for not picking a place for the meet. My fault.

The issue is that some of the Orlando guys want their Sticky back. The Jacksonville group wanted a sticky a while back also and were denied on account of already having too many stickies. Thus, the Orlando groups Sticky was removed also. In order to facilitate having Orlando, Jacksonville, and Tampa meet threads, then the obvious solution is to take down the threads that the forum least uses. If we have 9 stickies, then roughly half the page is used up by stickies. As you can tell by the votes, nearly everyone believes at least one of the Stickies need to be removed. Many would like to see more than one Stickied thread removed. CO's, I request you take all the information from this thread and take into consideration the wants and needs of the people. Thanks.

J-Fish,

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. I will talk to the other COs in the near future and do our best to come to an agreement that will satisfy the needs of the community, not tread on the heritage of the Florida Florida Forum, and help keep us all organized.

I actually really like the theory of the EC, but think we under-utilize it in the Tampa crew. If this is a "permission" issue then we need to nominate a couple people to be the Tampa EC admins who will take responsibility for posting meet info.

Generally speaking, we've been pretty good at getting a thread going and the active guys posting in there...very useful for getting headcounts and activity preferences. However, it's essential for us to post stuff on the calender for people who aren't as savvy with thread searching and working on their PPD average...LOL!

Thumbs down

we have debated the validity of the stickies and what should be there before.

here is what I think should be stickied:

-- Selling rules
-- Events Calendar
-- Resource Thread (rename it to Florida and then people from other areas post more locations in it)
-- Any Meet thread of significant size and or importance

the rest is left up there for sentimental reasons. The sigtings thread is fun or cool to read into if you happen to flash another S and they flash you back and then you rush home and post to see if it was somewho frequents the boards but it serves no function beyond that.

The photo gallery is redundant. I may have posted in there at one time but i dont remember and I rarely check in there or into any of the other threads stickied for that matter but some of them are truly important to have.

The member list is a good enough idea but I think it needs to be restarted with contact info to be truly effective. it is nice to know what color and year a member drives but if you need to contact that individual, in short order, a cell phone contact or some kind of phone number would be good to have there. But privacy being important we cant demand that info so that thread serves no real purpose either IMHO.

Having a meet thread for every area will just create these 89 page monstrosities that are impossible to follow. if you have a weekly meet, make a weekly thread. it takes no more time, essentially, to make a new thread than it does to post in an existing one so why clutter things up. Our thread making potential is endless on this site and if you think weekly meet threads will clutter up our first page, do not despair. it has not happened as of yet and if it does, you simply delete previous weeks threads...its no big deal.

Making major events a sticky is different IMHO because it usually involves more users needing information and making decisions. 10 people deciding on where to eat is different from 50 people trying to decide on a course or itenerary for an entire day.

If you really think about it, stickies are for longer term items anyway. Any important topic tht comes up quickly is bumped by responses naturally so it never leaves the first page anyways....
