Whats up fellas, I just quit my job recently and have been thinking about moving to FL and starting a new career down there. I'm just trying to get some ideas of where a good place to move to would be? I'd like to be somewhat close to a nice beach, but I'm not trying to pay a lot in rent and all. Also, are there alot of jobs available in the area? I just want some advice, as to if this would be a good decision to make, and good areas and all. Also, if anybody knows of good places online to look for apartments/houses to rent and work in the area, please let me know! Thanks in advance.
you "quit" your job which means you are unemployed. i don't know of any property managers that would take you on as a tenant without a secure job (even with sizeable savings, no income is no income). usually they'd prefer a certain period of employment stability (like a year or so). you also wanted a low rent apartment (ghetto?) but you have a highly modified s2ooo and your car will be stolen in a week.
you state you want to start a "new" career, new as in different? meaning you have no experience, meaning being at the bottom of the totem pole, and being at the bottom of the pay scale? you don't know the job market because you asked about if there are abundant jobs in the area. you should really know the demand (opportunities) for your type of labor and what the supply (unemployment rate) is. "jobs" is too vague.
virginia can't be that bad to just jump blindly into moving to florida. maybe i'm reading too into the post but just up and going a thousand miles south without any information is a tad eccentric.
Well, Ive been in the restaurant business since I was in high school, and for the past 6 years I have been in management. I'm just not sure if I wana pursue a career in this.
I definitly get the whole unemployed thing, thats something I was worried about, but I'm just trying to get some information.
Yes, I realize starting a new career, I would be be at the bottom of the totem pole. But if I can figure out what I want to do that I will like, and can get decent pay, I am willing to do it.
I have been to Florida a few different times, and after being in Orlando last week it just seems like I would be happier down there, one reason being I don't like cold weather.
I didn't know about the unemployment in Florida, that surprises me for some reason. I have checked out monster and jobs.com just a little bit, but haven't really looked into everything a whole lot. Theres more listings in the one area of Florida I searched then there are in the area I currently live in.

This almost seems like a joke. Someone needs to close the gate at the florida line, ya'll stay up there it's nasty down here! Weather really sucks, hurricanes and all. No jobs,
DO IT! AS FAST AS YOU CAN DON'T LOOK BACK! I LOVE DAYTONA!

my wife and I moved to the Clearwater/Tampa area in July from Pennsylvania and would never turn back. It is great down here! We prefer the west coast to the east but visit both and see for yourself
