Default Where to Buy?

Update 6/1/2007

We finally found a car! A 2001 VW Jetta automatic, V6, leather interior, Pwr Windows & locks, Pwr Sunroof, ABS brakes front & side airbags with 52K miles.

We pick it up in Orando on Sunday purchased form a private seller.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My baby will be 16 in less than a month and we are looking for a good used car for her. When we purchased one 3 years ago for my son we bought from a private seller thru Autotrader.com and we will no doubt search there again however if anyone knows of a good reputable place to find an honest deal please post way.

Thanks!

what kind of vehicle are you looking to get.

if you have the means and she is dependable/responsible and has a job of some kind to help offset the cost, a small new car may be the way to help her establish some credit while having the benefit of warranties and more dependability.

Scions, honda and Vw's have decent entry level cars.

BTW I am not judging your daughter in any way, just listing traits she would need to make this idea work.

I appreciate the input.

We are looking for a 4 year old car with around 50k miles on it and a budget of around 10k. When we did this 3 years ago for my son we got him a Honda Civic Ex with 51k miles and paid $8,900.00. Our goal is to provide them reliable transportation that they can use to get thru college (if properly maintained.) My son is finishing his first year at Stetson in Deland and he just rolled over to 67k when he was home for Easter weekend. My daughter has her heart set on a VW bug, however I would much rather get her in a Honda.

I hear what you are saying about the new car thing but I am pretty much done buying new cars and taking the hit on depreciation. Our goal is to pay cash and Dad's rule is School first not work. They will have plenty time to work, I want their focus to be on grades and College prep, and so far it is working. Obviously a fine line between providing for you kids, keeping them responsible and totally spoiling them, the many challenges of parenting.

I'm a Hatter BTW FTW. Focus on school first, then work and stuff. When my little girl gets to 16 I'm thinking of getting her a diesel station wagon with a big brake kit.

Not a bad idea...........big rubber bumpers & nerf bars would sell well with parents also.

I shop at automart they have a good selection with a very wide price range, very good people, good luck B. Just search the inventory and you will find lots of cars for under 10k.

Get her a 2 door, standard cab Nissan or Toyota truck. Only 1 passenger can ride with her instead of three (liability), lowest depreciation on a vehicle from the 3rd year-10th year on the books and, the lowest insurance rates you can find on any vehicle. With four boys on the family payroll, I will admit that I have become quite the expert on this matter. Plus, you get to use it when need a truck for those Home Depot runs!!

She hates trucks.............and I have to admit I am happy she does. Keep in mind we live in Plant City, a truck sends a differnet signal around here especially with a 16 year old girl behind the wheel. Although the insurance part has my attention.
