Why aren't there any big Florida gatherings?
I noticed that Florida has a lot of members on this board. How come out of the 100+ S2K owners, there aren't more get togethers? Especially now that we will be getting some nice cool weather. We don't have all the mountains and great drives like other states, but we do have year round top down driving weather, and we are just getting to the best time of the year. I've done some searches, but haven't found any big meetings that happen in Florida. Has there ever been a big get together, or are there plans on any? It doesn't have to be all S2K. I was looking on the photo forum of this web site and really liked all the nice cars/owners that got together in NY Any ideas on something like that here or in the southeast part of the country?
Thanks,
Dave

There was just a pretty big meet at the Delrey Acura dealership about a month ago. Check out the pictures in this thread:

Most folks don't want to drive more than an hour to meet on a Friday after work and it's really hard to get everyone away for meets on the weekends. There are several smaller meets that take place on a weekly basis either the Towers shops meets in Davie, drives in Miami, and there are some other meets monthly at a Hooters in Jacksonville first Friday of the month. Also the speed trial, autocross, and Chin motorsports driving events, and Morrosso events bring s2k enthusiats together or have us running in different directions. If you have a favorite haunt or a great drive post a proposed gathering place in your area. I've hosted a meet at the Jupiter Ale House, followed by movies and been to another meet in Jenson at a Tropical Smoothies place. Hope this helps,

It is just very hard to organize a meet and have everyone show up to it... I'm having a meet Friday in Miami-Dade County, so far i think about four S2000 owners will show up. We will have fun, but i would have wish to have had a larger group attend.

Well, there have been a few "BIG" meets, but mostly in South Florida. And now with the Holiday Season almost upon us, its going to be quite difficult getting everyone together.
I am looking into ideas and options for better organizing the FL Community as a whole and possibly organizing a Florida Meet in Central FL in early 03.

That's cool, at least there are things going on. I'll keep looking for one in my area. If the central FL one happens, that'd be great. I just keep my eyes open.
Thanks!

Also you can check the NSXFlorida website. We get together every few months with the local S2K's and have a fun country drive. See www.nsxflorida.com.
