Default Help with Oil Pan !?

Valvoline did an oil change about a year and a half ago and stripped the threading on the inside of my oil pan plug. i have tried a helicoil to rethread it and it hasnt helped. the bolt it tightened to specs and appears nothing is wrong, but it STILL LEAKS it has gotten worse and i am in need of some advice.

any suggestions?

i found a race oil pan for 250 online but i would rather try to repair this first before going that route

Basics first- are you using an aluminum crush washer to seal it?

mpetus,

I believe I am using an aluminum crush washer. But would that make that big of a difference and make it leak that much ?

It would. If you are using the washer, did you/they use a new washer or reuse the old? If reuse, leaking is very possible

I am waiting to hear back from my mechanic to confirm we used a new washer. I am almost positive that we have replaced it with a new one. Lets say we have, which is likely. What would be the next step ?

Sounds like you torqued the bolt correctly - if so, that and a new washer each time should do it...

New Honda oil pan can be had for ~$212 (according to the College Hills Honda website) so can't see that a "race oil pan for 250 online" would be worth it...

Did Valvoline compensate you for stripping the thread?

Confirmed that we used a new aluminum crush washer

I didnt notice the leak until about a month or so later, and i brought it to my mechanic to look at and he took the bolt out to examine it. So since he did that, they wont cover the repair.
