Default Shop for Gears

I want to replace the factory 4.10 gears soon and I'm looking for a shop in the gateway area that can do the job. Any suggestions? I hear good things about JDM Hookup, does anyone have experience with them?

I really want some 4.57s, but they look very hard to find. Any suggestions on where to find those? Not sure I want the 4.77's because they might be too short, but I'm open to any advice. Also, has anyone on here replaced the stock gears? If so what did you think?

Thanks for looking.

Bump

No suggestions? I'm considering going a different route and getting a header, test pipe, and exhaust.

I second u r option 2, ring and pinion replacement requires a lot of precision adjustments and a lot of shops do not have the right tools.

. Option #2 is the best option in my opinion. Once you start changing your gearning, be prepared to change other drive-train parts out as well. Sometimes it's the "Mod Bug", but most of the time, you'll need to upgrade other components to balance the upgrade you just made. It's a vicious cycle

Good part with option #2, a few of us in the group have the knowledge, experience, and equiptment to install the recommended option 2 changes.

Good luck!

I think I know which header I want but there's so many exhausts out there and so many dyno claims that I have no idea when it comes to a catback. What are you guys running? I've heard good things about the GReddy ti-c and the Invidia but all the threads and arguments over these exhausts are overwhelming.

I have the type one racing dual sparrow exhaust, stock header and berk HFC and one hell of a ghetto password jdm intake which I may or may not remove eventually.

Exhaust parts are being put on Saturday so I can only comment on sounds I've heard online. From the dynos on Evasive Motorsports website, the exhaust gives around 15 whp increase on a healthy motor which is excellent for a dual.

Hard question to answer as it all depends what your personal hearing wants. I had several exhaust on my S. Started with a 70mm titanium custom. That bad boy was so loud, I could not have a conversation in the car. Was awefull on long rides. Set car alarms off in parking garages just from the vibration.

Ended up with an HKS High Performance and absolutley loved it. Was quite at low RPM's and had a really nice sound at VTEC. Use the Gateway forum search engine and key in exhaust. There are several nice threads that give you feeback within our community
