Default Question on engine heat..............

I have had my S2000 since the beginning of November. The odometer reads over 4,000 miles. I have not had to add any engine oil in a while, yet sometimes the car still "smells hot" when I have been driving it. Nothing horrible, but noticeable. Is this normal?

Also, It seems as though a fair amount of heat comes up through the cup holder. Does everyone else experience this?

Yes and Yes!
Yes, you can smell the OIL, because it is consumming the oil (especially while you VTEC!) I hope you check your oil level every time you fill up gas? It is a mystery for some S2000 never consume a drop of oil between 0-7,500 miles, but for some it will used any where from

Thanks.

Yes, I do check the oil regularly....I probably added 0.5 to 0.75 quarts in the first 2500 miles. Since then, the oil level has remained pretty constant.

I just wanted to make sure the smell and heat are normal; that I don't have any problems.

It sure does make it difficult to keep a beverage in the cup holder cold!

Ha! Ha! I usually don't drink in the car or I'll just bring bottled water with me, because the cup holder really can't hold a large cup! If you have anything that's tall, it's going to be in the way for your arm there to shift anyway! Actually that same place is also for the ashtray (an option!) Don't ask me why anyone wants an ashtray in a convertible?? I don't smoke anyway!
