Texas is a big place. Some parts have absolutely miserable weather but in others I've been told it is pretty nice. I've only visited the shitty places, though.

Yep, west Texas is nice. Houston is where I grew up, but I don't think I'd say it's "nice" exactly. Austin, San Antonio are both nice and have decent scenery around. Houston is flat, and hot, and very humid. Been there done that, don't really care to move back there.

Bobbie was stationed near San Antonio at some point in her Air Force career. She really liked it there. I've really only been to Amarillo and the DFW area and for short periods of time at that... Amarillo is not somewhere I'd recommend to a friend.
