About 4 mo' here. It's okay though. I have zero desire to drive my S home tonight. Still have the shuddering under acceleration and sputtering under constant(non-accelerating) travel speed. In fact, When shifting gears now, there is an additional "clunk" in between shift- seemingly coming from the diff or axles.

Damn Skip that really sucks.

Did you swap side to side or replace the CV's all together? Follow up on that, have you checked to see if the axles and or drive shaft are bent?

It's still mostly accelerating-dependent. If the axles were bent, I believe it would be more of a speed related nature.

Swapped cups side-to-side and left the cv joints in their original locations. They appeared to be fine, but what the heck do I know?

I had a similar problem with my '57 under acceleration. Come to find out I had 2 issues, my drive shaft was out of balance and that caused the U-joints and shaft to wear. This caused the car to shudder under launch (the shaft had some play in it because of the wear.) I went to the local shop and had another one made and that fixed the issue. They are the people who explained to me what had happened.

I could explain the shudder and the clunk you are getting, but as you say what do I know too many parts could cause this.
