Yea but you have to look at how long the playstations have been out and the units sold vs the xbox. The ratios of defective units still would greatly be towards xbox being the defective bunch.. I mean the 360.. the orig xbox been pretty stable.

And yea I know they extended the warranty, but I thought it was only 2 years. I guess I might still have a year then

They go by serial right? Or receipt? I'm pretty sure I have both... but not 100% sure where I put the receipt.

you know, that's a good question. I'm not sure what they go buy, because i'm sure people have thrown away their receipt by now.

the biggest problem is that in the end, it's a pc. and you know what happens to pcs.

But what if I bought it from a store that had older ones in the back? Then I got shorted 6-12 months on it.

Although I really hope it IS the serial.. as I honestly don't know where I put the receipt..

I don't know where I put mine either, and since like 500 people I know have all returned it w/o a problem, I have to assume it's by serial. All of them could not have kept the receipt. Though maybe it's in my 360 box
