the receipt doesn't matter.
i don't think the date of purchase matters either.
if it happens to die in the future just call the 800 number go through the procedures and send the xbox back to them.
MS covers the shipping costs.

like I said, pretty sure it's 3 year warranty (1 year original + 2 year extension maybe). So you're pretty damned safe.
