From what I've been told the S2000 is a pain to paint because of the convertible top well - they have to pull that out. Apparently that is a 8-14 hour job in itself.

I just want 2-3 extra coats of clear put on to make the car hard as a rock and make the paint look that much deeper and wetter

Lots of clear coat.. Back in the day, we would put 30 coats of clear, then wet sand until smooth as glass and compound and buff the hell of it. Looked like 1/4 inch of glass over the paint.

I wish I could afford to do it - I think just adding the clear coats with "loose" prepping (not pulling off every molding) will run about $1500 with my hook up.

I doubt with the new types of paint that are chemically cured, baked, etc. that you need more than one coat, maybe two to achieve what would look similar to what we use to do.

And Zaino does give that depth look for alot less.

I edited my comments on the last page, sorry to Skip, and others if I offended, I read this morning what I wrote last night, after 6 beers mind you, and figured I don't know what I am talking about.

I believe you've been misinformed... but I could be wrong, too.

The only reason why my top was partially removed was because they had to weld the rear quarter panel on. The entire top was not removed at any point during my repaint.

Also, StreetDreamz helped another member swap out tops at my house- it did not take a whole day to do.
