The door jams, trunk, trim, are not easy to prep and paint. The engine bay would have added at least another $1,000.00 to do a good job, and $3,000.00 to do a perfect job. Lots of crap to remove, cover, etc.

A complete repaint for less than $3000 would cause me to be concerned... but that's me.

My price was assuming the car just needs repaint, not dents, part replacement, rust issues. Just paint. But I know that your ass is picky, so I am sure they charged the Skip factor in the pricing. Hence the $5,500.00...

Although, I think I'd be more comfortable north of the $3500 range unless I knew the shop well.

$5500 for a color change and nothing extra.

<$3000 for a respray of the same color would concern me.

Comfortable, why, because you SPENT too much money, so it must be a good paint job... sorry, you are wasting money.... been there, done that.

I am saying that for a full respray to my factory color, I would be afraid they cut corners if they didn't charge me $3500. If I knew the shop, and they gave me a "deal" then great.

For an "off the street" price, if a shop low-balled the quote I would have second thoughts.

I understand, I am old school, must be me. I use to paint custom cars at 3,000 when paint cost 50 bucks a gallon. Must be me. Cost of paint today $350.00 MAX.

Edit: I may be way off, in the old days we didn't have all the enviromental BS, fees, disposal, and the cost of the new booths I am sure have gone up, etc. So I am just old and think things shoujldn't cost as much.
