SAFETY (applies to Modified and Street classes only, and all must be able to pass SCCA inspection)
-0.25** = roll bar installation
-0.50** = roll bar installation with bucket seat and FIA-approved 5+ point harness
-0.75** = full roll cage installation with bucket seat and FIA-approved 5+ point harness

OTHER
- ANY more interior / exterior removal than specifically allowed above will result in Unlimited classification (including bumper beams)
- no NOS allowed in the competition

* Mutually exclusive. An air dam bumper or aftermarket lip would be 0.25 points. Upon addition of a splitter or any other front aero modification, the total point penalty would be 0.50 points.
** Mutually exclusive. There is no point deduction for running only bucket seats and harnesses without a roll bar.

Stock Class - 0.50 points maximum
The purpose of this class is to keep costs down and be attractive to a newcomer with a completely stock S2000. Drivers of all experience levels are welcome. As the rules are most tightly regulated, all the cars would be on the same playing field and direct driver to driver comparisons could be drawn. Tires are restricted to TW 140+ and no larger than 235/40/17 front and no larger than 255/40/17 rear. No splitter or wing allowed.

Street Class - 3.50 points maximum
The purpose of this class is to allow moderate modifications to the car, as well as allowing CR owners the ability to truly "arrive and drive." A bone-stock CR with AC/Audio removal would be classed at 2.5 points, allowing CR owners the ability to do an ECU tune, add a diffuser, wheels or do some minor power modifications. The modifications limits would be: no front splitter, no level 3 wing, no tires less than 140 treadwear, no final drive, and no FI.

Modified – 10 points maximum

Unlimited – No point limit
This is an exhibition class. No holds bar!

Why assign 2.5 points to R-compound tires like NT-01, and then say you can't run them in Street Class, which allows 3.50 points?

I have a totally bone stock AP1. My only Mod is NT-01 tires. So I have a total of 2.50 points, but I can't run street class, I have to run Modified, where everybody has power mods, suspension and aero.

I think that's unfair and I'd like to ask for a rule change. Street class is 3.50 points maximum. No additional restriction on tires. Can I get a ruling on this? Thanks.

I argued for the same thing, under the same logic. But it fell on deaf ears. We actually allowed NT01 last year in Street Class, but this year they banned it. Ask BellWilliam why--I forget the reason, but he was the major proponent of banning it, I think.

^^^ William loaned me a set of AP2 wheels to run on my AP1, and advised me what size of NT-01s to buy, which I bought a couple of days ago. Then he tells me this morning I can't run Street Class with these tires. I think he's yanking my chain. There's no way I can compete in Modified when my car is absolutely bone stock except for the tires.

If the rulemakers really believe that their point system makes sense, and that NT-01 should be 2.50 points, and that all other mods are properly assigned points, then it shouldn't matter how I get to a maximum of 3.50 points, I should be able to run Street.
