Default for owners who have traded up to '02 model

I know a good amount of owners have traded up from their '00 and '01 models to an '01. I have a '01 and would like to trade up to an '02 because recently my car has been having some problems such as the shaking rear end, my tranny has been getting very notchy, my clutch is buzzing and my rear window needs changing.
What I was wondering is if anyone who has traded was leasing their first car? I have a 36 month lease with 24 months to go and want to get a 36 month lease on an '02. Does anyone have any experience with this and do you think it is possible?

Of course you can do it. There's a buy-out price on leases just like with a regular loan. See what your buy-out is then work the numbers on how much you can actually sell the car for. Whatever the difference is will add to your next lease.

It is possible. Depending on how your lease is written (you will need to take a look) trading in (or better yet selling your car privately) when it's leased is pretty much the same as if it was financed. Take a look at your lease or call your leasing company.

I have heard from some people who have leased that when they get to the point where there is about a year left on the lease the dealer offers to allow them out of the lease early provided they lease another car from them for the same term or more. Has anyone else heard of this? Anyway if it is true you may just want to wait a year and then see, by that time you'll have a chance to see what has been changed on the 03 models and demand should be lower so you will end up getting a better deal. It seems that the dealer pretty much has you in a bad position since they are probably getting serveral people you want to trade up also.
