Default Car shakes when I speed up

Hey, I have had my car for about two years, it has about 85000 miles on it. it has stock suspension, wheels and tires. For the last two weeks the car shakes when I speed up. it does not happen at a certin speed, just when I accelerate. What do you all think. do you think the tires need to be balenced. The car also bounces around alot on the highway, and does not feel as stable as it used to be. It is real "twitchy" at high speeds. Any info would help. thx

Sounds like blown shocks.
Time for an upgrade.

Could be you CV joints wearing out. Does you car shake when you put load onto the car? Mine would start to shake pretty bad when I accelerate pretty hard. I changed mine out at 65K.

There are several threads on "the shakes".In most cases it was worn CV joints, but this type of shaking can also be due to worn, unbalanced or out of round tires. I don't think worn shocks would cause the car to shake, but may allow shaking to continue rather than dampen it.

My inner CV joints were replaced just inside the warranty period recently. The symptom was a vibration under acceleration only and it was getting worse with minimal mileage increases (big difference within 500 miles or so). It never got to the point of some of the reports of severe vibration - I got it repaired before that happened...

First verify your tire pressures are correct. I run 34 in the back and 32 in the front for SO2's. If the pressure is off the car will pull and can shake a bit. If the pressures are OK then it is your CV joints.

thx for the replys. I checked the tire pressure and its fine. I am going to replace the shocks because I got some eibach springs. So the worn out CV joints are covered under warranty? I hope so, the dealership here is alway trying to screw me. They tried to charge me 80.00 just to replace my axle nuts for the TSB. They did n ot even know there was a TSB for it. So if it is the CV joints it should be coveered under warranty? I have 100000 mile used car warranty and honda care warranty. THX for the info.

Yes the CV joints should be covered under warranty. Ask to see if you can grab a tech and go out for a test drive. You should be able to reproduce it and the tech should know where to go.

Also if you want to check yourself you can jack up the rear, make sure both rear tires are off the ground and start moving each axle side to side. If the CV joints aren't worn then the axle will have very little if any play. If they're worn then you will have a lot of play. Compare the two and see which one moves more. I'm guessing that it's going to be the drivers side. I hope that doesn't confuse you.

The TSB for the axle nuts are usually used when the car is making metalic popping noises, not the shakes.

Do a search on worn CV joints, is somewhat common with this car.

Also don't give into that Honda BS about not covered under wattanty. They tried to do that with my fading tail lights, but in the end I got them changed for free. Good Luck.

For my car, the TSB was 02-063 (vibration during acceleration)...

Thx for the help. I had the poping sound coming from the rear of my car a few monthes ago. They tried to charge me for it. I used one of there computers while I was there and got on s2ki and found a bunch of threads about the rear end poping, they still didnt beleve me. It took about a week for them to find out it was a TSB. Thats why I dont want to go there with this problem maybe I can go to an acura dealership. Thx for the info. I will write down that TSB # and see if that works
