J's Racing Type V hood VS Mugen CF Hood
Well I just received my J's Racing Type V CF hood and must say its a little better than the Mugen CF hood IMO. It seems like they (J's Racing) paid much more attention to detail with the weave on this hood. I have seen both hoods in person and now cannot justify why the Mugen CF hood costs $2600 when in reality it should cost the consumer about $1400 period, plain and simple, end of story. I have seen 2 Mugen CF hoods and am not impressed at all (dont get me wrong, its still a nice hood). Yes, the style looks similar to J's Racing but the weave is were Mugen has its problems. I will get pictures up soon. Dont know when though.
FYI,
If your looking for a CF hood with the same or better quality then Mugen then the J's Type V hood is the way to go and it may be a lot cheaper.
Here is how I rate the top 4 CF hoods, and yes all in order from the top being the best and then on down.
#1) Amuse Dry Carbon Vented CF Hood $2800
#2) Cwest Dry Carbon 3 Vent CF Hood $2800
#3) J's Racing Type V CF Hood (All Versions) $1400-$2800
#4) Mugen CF Hood $2600

oh well... I'm such a Mugen whore, but I've always wanted the Amuse hood. I wonder if the Mugen CAI will clear the Amuse CF hood without modification? Anyone know?

The First Molding hood definately has better quality weaves, but hey, they spent a day copying Mugen's design, while Mugen spent weeks in the wind tunnel. I can't imagine a world where knock-offs cost more than the real thing.
Then along comes J's Racing, who spent an hour negotiating with First Molding regarding the re-badging some of the hoods, and the price instantly went up by $300 a piece, but hey, they come with J's Racing cardboard boxes.

How can you say something should cost the consumer $1400? Seriously, that's a ridiculous statement from someone who is willing to spend as much money as you have in the past on parts. Mugen actually spent the money to do the proper research and they make their's in an autoclave. So if anything J's should be charging $1400 since they essentially just stole Mugen's design. As for the quality of the weave. That's a misconception, the weave is the same, they just layed it down differently.

Hmmm, you didn't add the ASM hood to your "Top Hood" choices. I'm assuming by the quality they promote (price aside) that all their exterior pieces, as well as everything else they make would be pretty top notch. Then again, anyone how can afford a majority of their parts probably wouldn't buy an S2000 to begin with.
