Default downshifted by mistake

I had a track day about 3 days ago and made a mistake on an up shift. I was suppose to go to 3rd (near redline on 2nd), but the car was under load so it was hard to get into gear and I manage to put it in 1st and lock-up the rear wheel and went landscaping. I lock up the brake and push the clutch in as fast as I could but everything seems very fast (mis-shift then wham) I didn

it was hard because you were trying to shift into the wrong gear..

Well you didnt trigger any CEL's so it's unilkely you bent a valve. Exactly what speed did you shift at?

If you were at redline when you went into 1st there is a chance you could have damaged something. However, a lot of people have overreved (myself included once) and never had a problem. I never got mine checked and mine runs great, however I don't "advise" this necessarily. For peace of mind, get it checked. I'm getting tires put on next week and will have my mechanic check out my head because I want to setup nitrous soon and I'm scared about the overrev I had close to a year ago.

There's tons of threads about overrevs and all will basicly tell you the same thing. your engine can be without symphtomes for months, but with a cracked retainer it could drop a valve any time.
The only way you'll know for sure is to have it checked. At least take the valve cover off and do a visual inspection.

I missed a shift from 3-2 instead of 3-4. It was obvious when I next cranked the engine that I'd bent valves. I limped it home 5 hours from the track (which is why I have a trailer now) . I DIDN'T have any CEL's and DID have bent valves so, a CEL isn't a great symptom. They were just slightly bent. I ran the rest of the session with the damaged valves and couldn't even tell. It's when I asked it to idle that the problem became apparent.

Honda engines are tough. I imagine if had been any other engine I would have blown it.

I question whether you actually over-revved it. I wouldn't be surprised if locking the wheels up and sliding protected the engine from an over-rev. In my case the tach pegged so, it was obvious.

IIRC this engine will turn up to 10,700 revs before you bend a valve. you should have it looked at to be sure. billman 250 has some pics posted up showing what to look for.

That what I thought that it might take months before the symptom shows up but I'm sure that those were more of a street driven car. I drove the car another 70 hard miles on the track after that happen and the valve hasn't drop yet and I would have thought for sitting at redline for 70+ miles will speed up the process so that is why I thought my engine is okay.
