How do I use SEAFOAM
I know it's an S2K forum but, an engine is an engine
I have a 90 Toyota 4 X 4 pick up with a 22RE engine and a 5 spd. manual trans. It has around 150k miles.
The truck is a dog no power...0 to 60 in 5 miles
I know that it is no S2000 but, it has to get better than this
I did a compression test and they are all in the range of 150 to 170 psi
no problems there. Checked the plugs and they are nasty looking...look sort of like barnacles on them white, gray, crusty hard deposits
They were all gaped at a different setting one was 35 one was 28 and two were around 30. The proper gap is 31
I would like to use the Seafoam product on the fuel system as well as the crank case (engine oil) There are no specific instructions on the can so I need some help on how to use this stuff the right way.
I am changing the oil and filter as well as the plugs. I will check timing and the cold idle injector to start
I will check out this post when I get back from the auto parts store
Please stand by
Thank you

IIRC, you fog the intake. ie: while the truck is running you pull a vacuum line on the intake and stick it in the bottle and feather the throttle to keep the engine running. do this outside with a good wind because from what i have read, you will fog the entire neighborhood.... lol.
A vacuum tee(open to atmosphere) between the solution and the motor is a good idea. This helps to atomize the liquid as it goes in. Throttle should be set to around 1200-1500 RPM. Don't bump it up and down. Your putting in a liquid that's not as stable as gas. Listen for pinging. If you here it pinch the feed line a little bit to limit the amount of solution. To much solution and the car will die.
After thats all done let it idle a few minutes to clean itself off and then take her around the block with a few wide open pulls to clean out the carbon that's been loosened up.

Kentucky windage is a PITA on those though

HAHAHAHA
22RE...good motor. I suggest sucking it through the PCV. You'll need to choke off the hose though, or you'll stall the motor. It's a good idea to pull the cat off while you do this too...so far I've done the seafoam treatment on 2 cars in the last year, and both crapped the cats out less than 2 months later.
