Default Supercharger Intake Air Temps - RoadRacing

So here is my Vortech kit on a road course. It's running 12psi and makes 410 to the wheels. (Stock header).

I thought I would start posting a bit of data on temps,etc... for posterity. Looks like it heatsoaks after one lap. The time index is a bit misleading as we were idling in the pits and had a pace lap. As soon as the green flag dropped is where the temps really start climbing.

It starts out at about 60F (Which I really don't quite understand it was about 85F out. The peak is about 125-130F.

Good data but for an apples to apples comparison to other setup a better number to show would be IAT/IC approach.

This will show the efficiency of the system and where your IATs cross the Ambient temp line.

Knowing this data one would be able to calculate approximate time to reach stead state temperatures and would be able to pre determine IATs ( for pre race tuning) based on expected environmental conditions on race day.

Assumptions
Inlet temp = 37.7C (under hood 100F)
Ambient temp 29.4C ( 85F)
Compressor eff 70%
Compressor discharger 123C

To get a IAT of 57C (130F) your IC is at approx 70% eff

Air to Air or Air to water?
I see VT but do not want to assume what type of IC.

If using the A2W a biger capacity water pump woud help bring thoes temps down a bit.

You are averaging 40-45deg F of approach

I average 15 to 20F of approach.

Small the number the better.

My IC is Air to water but has a higher capacity then a VT/CT A2W setup ( assuming you are using the A2W)

Using the stock Vortech system with it's water pump. Don't have the pre-intercooler sensor connected yet. I have it, but need to connect it. Race Technology using metric sensors, so it's a bit of a pain.

You also don't have the stock Vortech intake housing, so the air filter is getting hot air through the radiator and even more so when the fans kick on.

I would like to try a Comptech or Vortech filter housing to isolate it a bit.
Perhaps a simple heatshield would also suffice.

FYI - My calibration on the sensor was off. Hense why it starts out at 58F. Unfortunately this means we are seeing close to 190F intake temps.

Ouch.

Would using a IC be better?? Also Would using some type of Water Injection Kits be better also or both?

jeez thats too hot for intake temps. there needs to be a product out there besides meth injection that could make intake temps cooler for s/c applications. Like a Cold Air intake for our s/c. That would be something i would definalty buy
