on the Dead Pedal---it comes out easily--nothing at all behind it --just a bracket holding it----there are 3 10mm bolts holding it in place--the bolts are under the carpet --to remove --
pull the silver plastic cover off--(the part your foot rests on)--there's 2 clips that hold it on--just pull hard toward you and it'll pop off. Then pull the carpet down from behind the clutch and brake pedals to give yourself some room to work and remove the 3 10mm bolts behind the black bracket that holds the part that your foot rests on---the bolts actually screw into the sidewall (not the floor) and are easy to get with an extension bar on your socket. remove the black bracket and the carpet should fold back down in place.
pretty easy to do

Thank you jetboater..sounds ez....can't wait to do it...
my size 15 feet are getting caught up in that and the clutch
at the same time...not to mention my knee problem.

And please keep in mind...the finance mgr. was the one going
on and on about 2000's being so attractive to thieves.

This while trying to sell me a lojack system and some insurance
policy(5K) if my car is stolen.
She is extremely attractive...shapely..and quite a personality...
smart as well...I have the feeling she does quite well.

if you have any trouble moving the carpet out of the way enough to get to the bolts, you may have to remove the kick panel to get it out of the way and the carpet will fold back easliy--to do that you need to remove the door threshold molding (3 clips) and then the kick panel--there's a small white clip on the upper edge of it (under the rubber trim piece) that you can pop out with a flat screwdriver and then one other clip down near the dead pedal--after you remove those 2 clips, the kick panel just slides back and out. Then the carpet can be folded back

5K for an insurance policy? is that through the dealership or your insurance company? why not just go with an aftermarket alarm system, alot have GPS capability? and like others have said accords, civics, and integras are atop the most stolen list...

Just got back into town after being on the road for 23 days....the entire
time I asked myself continuously.."why did I buy that car..why did I buy
that car"?

And....consdering my car had sat for 23 days..and with the cold snap
Florida was having I was concerned she might not turn-over.
Turned out to be a non-issue..cranked right up and of course I had to
go around the block...yep...I knew why I bought that car!!

But..starting to have some doubts to the purchase based on my size..still
am going to remove DFR and hope that will help.

Have to admit..this car is amazing! The engine..transmission...handling..oh
and the looks.

Just one area of concern in regards to handling.
When making 90degree turns while carrying some speed..she seems to
almost "bottom-out".
While long sweeping turns can be made at extremely high speed and nowhere
near the car's limit..making 90 degree turns just aren't as great as I'd hoped for.

I did have a basic very plain 2.0ltr Mazfda Protege that handled these corners
much better.
Maybe after only having driven the car for 2-3 days I really don't have the correct
technique for these corners?

I did take a downhill tight radius exit ramp at a very brisk speed and started to
loose the tail a bit..but I kept on the throttle and just flicked the wheel a bit
to correct the spin.
