Default about to buy a 02 s2k

hey everyone, new to the forum.

i've found a 02 silver with black interior. its got 52,xxx miles and i can get it for 18,000

about the car- its got two kohmos (sp?) on the rears, and two random (same random) tires on the front, ( im a little shaky on the tires)

im fairly knowledgeable about cars. but i still have some questions.

how do i find out from the dealer about the TSBS and if they have been performed?

will they have a record of previous work done to the car?

the car is in beautiful shape, interior is clean (and i looked for the secret compartment AND FOUND IT! )

its got a clear bra 3M on the front, in good shape as well.

so do you guys think 18k is a good price, they wont come down below that, it does come with a cert. warrente, and is good to 100k. and they said it comes with a 1 yr. 12k bumper to bumper, (so any of the old recall stuff not performed could be done for free right?)

i appreciate all of your replies hope to join the comm. with a car soon!

thanks, pete.

Woot woot...go with silver and black it's an awesome combo! The tires would be Kumho which is a good brand (from past experiences) and don't worry about the fronts. As long as the tires have tread on them, I wouldn't be too concerned.

If you want to know about TSB's, I would either have a mechanic look at it or run a carfax...there isn't much more you can do. No, a dealer won't have a record of what's been done to the car, only what is currently on it (and sometimes they suck at that too ). I think 18k is a good price being that I have the same car with 20,000 miles and a hardtop, and mine was 21k. My friend got ripped off and bought a 2001 with 70,000 miles for 18k...so I think that's reasonable. Make sure there is nothing wrong with it though. Never go by warranties because dealers always find a way to not have to cover it. Good luck

ya think thats decent? it notes something about the spark plugs, does that mean they were changed due to TSB? or just randomly.?

not a bad price. Got my 02 for $20k with 25k on the clock but I haggle the crap out of the guy . The one thing I would ask them is about the window regulator. There was a problem with all the ap1's at some point in time the driver side window will stop automatically going down when the top is lowered. Mine went at 30k. The fix is they install the newer version of the regulator. Cost is $360 w/labor but since I had the honda care warranty it was covered. Which brings me to my next thing don't get the warranty it sucks. Like mgp 2675 they try everything not to cover work. Only thing they covered for me so far is the regulator. After that they have been a hassle and I will be getting rid of it soon. Good luck with your purchase.

thats an ok price. i bought my 03 with 30k miles on it for $18.5k in september. it all depends on where you live and how many of them are for sale in your area. im in northern NJ where the cost of living is high, so everything else is higher priced too. there are plenty of S2000s for sale around here too, so the prices are competitive.

If you like it, go for it. I'd say that's an OK price, acceptable but not great. That car is like mine, with over 50K miles, which is not low mileage.

The spark plug thing was a recall, and it's good that it was done!
