btw nice wheels!
At first I was dead set on not buying as-is, because I really don't the time or money to deal with a car that needs work. But now you guys are making me realize I should just get it asap. Thanks for the compliment on the wheels, I do like my Evo a lot, but I normally switch cars every 2 years or so. It's that time, and I'm itching for something different. What's holding me back, is that I still regret selling my Evo VIII in '07.

Appreciate the offer, I'd only do something like that if she'd stay firm to an awesome price. I looked back at her original text to me asking what it's worth back in February. I responded she should get around $9k on a trade-in, and much more private party. Then a few days later, she texted me again about it. That's when I offered $5k cash, and I guess where she got the idea of selling it that cheap. About a month later is when she posted it on facebook.

I go back and forth on what I should do with the $5k from the bike. I'm tired of dumping money into the Evo, but it will need a clutch soon, and brakes, etc. The best that could happen is..I get the S, love it...and sell the Evo. No car payment, awesome car, and start spending extra money on other things. That would be the most perfect outcome out of all of this. Appreciate all the feedback, some if it funny made me lol, but I will give updates this weekend as they come.

Seriously? This thread is a damn joke. Take the car no questions asked 5k. It's paid off right? It can sit in your garage with no insurance and you don't have to drive it until you get some money back up.. or sell the EVO like you are talking about.. or the bike. Like everyone else has said.. take it and run. BTW, bring it to IA or something.

Good luck with the S2K. I live up in Vinings but am in Marietta pretty often, maybe I'll see you around. Saw a white Evo X on Cumberland Pkwy a few days ago but I think it was on stock wheels - guessing it wasn't you? Anyways, hope the sale comes through for you.

UPDATE FROM THE MECHANIC!!

This text is what the seller forwarded to me earlier from the mechanic:

"Replacing the vtec solenoid, pressure plates, a cracked retainer, and I've noticed a grind up on starting which is the starter sticking. The previous owner (girl) took no maintenance of this car I see besides keeping gas and changing the oil but I'll have it back to new"

So that's where it stands right now. He started working on it at 3pm today, and their goal is to get it to me this weekend. He didn't say anything about a belt this time, so not sure what happened there. It's a bit over my head at this point, so looking for some more opinions and/or advise.

Still something I should go for, no questions asked? Does this new information tell you guys anything else that I should be concerned about? Thanks for any input, I'm hoping tomorrow will be my first actual chance at seeing the car, ready or not.

Do you have any plans on what you want to do to the car once you get it, or are you going to keep it stock?

Everyone has already said what they think. If the engine or any part of it is shit, IT'S STILL WORTH IT. At least you know the engine is good. Just buy the damn thing already.

I still think this deal would/will never happen. These cars will survive relatively maintenance free and she's a girl, I don't see what damage she caused. and I also don't see the purpose in replacing the pressure plate? The whole story seems like someone is f@#king with your horribly.

If you do end up with this car, running or not, consider it a miracle.
