Default COUNTING DOWN THE DAYS!

Hey guys! I'm Joe.

I've been lurking around here a little while, looking at all sorts of mods, builds, etc., and listening to how much fun you guys have with your S2k's. I'm on a ship right now in the Pacific, and pretty much spend all day reading this forum. I'll be moving to Camp Pendleton in July. I've never been so excited to buy anything in my life. I'm already planning my first build, which should take place not soon after I finish doing all of the new car chores, etc.

I need help with my build. I could be entirely too optimistic about some of my plans. I'm looking to spend about a little bit on toys for my new baby. My goal is to have the most fun with this car as a reliable DD / neck breaker. Street racing isn't my cup of tea, but I'd like to have a car that could maybe go toe-to-toe with the others.

Anyway, I'm looking to spend about 12-15k on an MY04. I want an AP2 that still has a little bit of that VTEC kick. I'm leaning towards black? Maybe white. Not sure yet. First thing on my to-do list is putting in 4.44s and a T1R dual. At the same time, I'm want to get the aesthetics out of the way with the VIS Terminator hood, Spoon Rear Bumper & Diffuser (what is that little door knocker-lookin' thing I see sometimes on the back?), ADVAN TSIIIs or Volk TE37s (whichever I can find for cheaper), and of course, red Honda badges. Sound system. Internals. Lights. Cockpit-style interior haha. Oh, and all of those kick-ass Modifry tweaks!

I want to stick a turbo in it. It's going to have to be a GReddy because I'm moving to Cali. I'm going to wait until I find a good deal on one. I'm also prowling for fairly priced BBKs (Brembo GT-4?) and coilovers. Speaking of Cali- I've never been there before and I've heard some shady things about some places- which is why I'm looking into alarms and seat locks as well. Can anyone give me an idea of how safe you feel parking your s2000s out in town or at the beach?

This will be my first car. I used to drive my dad's pickup. That said, I'm not much of a car mechanic.. but, I do work on helicopters lol. I love fixing birds and keeping them clean. Hopefully I can do the same with my S2k.

I'm really looking forward to being part of your community. You guys sold me on this car.

Welcome!

It sounds like you've done your homework and have a good idea on the upcoming build, that's sweet. I picked up an '04 about a year and a half ago. With some dedication and patience, you should be able to get a great car in your price range.

If you keep spending time on the forum, you should find what you need as far as specifics for your build. Research and experience seem to be the key when it comes to the balance of aesthetics/performance. There are some members with phenomenal looking cars that more than hold their own on the track and auto-x. There's so much good info on this forum.

Anyway, glad to have you on and welcome to the board. Good luck with the rest of your deployment! (USMC?)
