But driving a S gives you the feeling you are on a go cart. You cannot say go carts are not fun, lol.

I have an '00 AP1 and you can't really just go sliding around sideways all the time. I mean you can but it's not THAT controllable unless you're really good or on shit tires.
I only have mediocre Sumitomo HTR Z-III's on for daily driving and at the point where they let go, I'm going pretty damn fast or really caning it in the corners. It doesn't just slip-slide around.
I do not drive this car nearly as hard as I drove my MK3 supra simply because the limits of this are sooooo much higher. Flying around at 8/10 on an onramp? forget it. I hit a bump in the middle of one and it sent the back end 2 feet sideways.
It's a fun car, but it's a twitchy ridiculous kind of fun like "oh shit, I'm about to die soon" if you run it hard on the street. I sincerely doubt the difference is going to be substantial between your evo and this car. If you want a car you can toss around like a hooligan on normal roads, pick up a miata or something.

parts are gonna be fairly expensive for the M3 but if moneys not a concern then the M3 is the best choice because its pretty much already a classic. My buddy has an e36 318 and when we compare prices of parts from his car to my EP3 there is a big gap. Now i can only imagine for an M series car. We also compared some S2k parts because i plan to pick one up in the next couple of months and the S2k still had lower price tags compared to the 318. Go to the grassroots motorsports website i think they have a handful of articles on the e30 m3 and a couple on the s2k. recently they did a brief buyers giude article.
BTW that pic of the e30 is hot! Makes me wanna slap my momma...

personally parts for the M3 is what threw me off. there' is no such thing a "money's not an option" these days. It's always something in people minds when Dow took a 33% nose dive this year.
S2 just reliable. Period. Less meaintenance. Older BMW's are reliable I'll give it that, but as far as the new ones go.. only thing they have the status quo..
personaly I love the look of the 93+ M3 convertible.. but I still like S2 better.

E30 m3 ftw - but I'm a BMW fanatic and this is THE car of all cars for us.
However, maintaining the engines (s14) can get pretty damn expensive. What I say you do is find an e30 m3 rolling chassis, and toss the s50/s52 engine in it ( thats the engines from the 95-1999 m3 chassis). The s50/s52 engines are actually very reliable, you see alot of them with 150k-200k+ miles on them and still running strong. And theyre great if you want to have a turbo setup since they can hold something like 350whp on stock internals. You'll end up having a sweet ass car then and alot more unique (and faster) than an s2000. Not hating on the s2000, I'm thinking about getting one, but an e30 m3 like others said is in a whole other league. Aside from the s14 engine, as long as there is no rust the e30 chassis is reliable.
this setup would prob cost 12-15k including labor depending on the prices of parts you can source. bmw's really aren't that unreliable. I own a 2000 328i (which I am selling right now) with 130k running strong and I have never replaced anything on the engine that besides basic maintenance, except for water pump which takes like 20 min and is cheap.
