hey buddy

the sockets under the headlights are suppose to be straight up black.. is it just me or is simi yellow?

i hope that helps..

and plus no vin numbers as other members stated. so in my honest opinion WALK AWAY.. the price is not even that cheap...

aftermarket hood
high mileage
probably not the oem bumper
price is on the high side.

Also note - if you replace the top with a newer (ap2) top and glass. Your rear window defrost will not work unless you replace the cluster. The defrost is wired into the cluster. Just an FYI.

It's amazing what values some of the people on this forum come up with on "the max price they would pay." It's a clean '01 with decent mileage for that year. Please keep in mind that you're looking at RETAIL value since it's at a dealer, it's not a private party or trade in value. KBB suggests $13k for HER zip code. Not Florida, not California, etc. According to the shop there is no frame damage and according to CarFax it was only minor cosmetic damage from the one accident. The top is misaligned probably due to worn strikers or another issue. Other than that... the car is clean! How in the world do you drop $5k from the starting price from this data?

Sorry, that's just been a big pet peeve of mine lately on forums. "I wouldn't pay more than ... <insert salvage price here> for that..." Right... c'mon people, be realistic here.

I'm not saying it's worth $13k, because that's for mint condition Retail value in your area, and this car is not mint. But it's definitely not worth far below $10k. If minor cosmetic fixes don't bug you much and the car is in the condition that you want it it, I'd say it's worth bringing up these issues to the dealer and bringing the price down a bit but certainly don't just waive it off.

Sorry but that car is not worth more than $10K and I don't see the dealer dropping the price from $13k to $10k.
My biggest pet peeve is worn out seats and those seats are pretty bad.
Keep looking.

The sockets under the headlights are black, it's a crappy picture. If you look at the other pics I took you can see they're black.
The hood is original OEM with VIN, no damage.

I gave them my price, he's talking to his boss. I don't think they'll take it, but I basically told him it's not worth what they're asking, so we'll see. If not, there are others out there. I think he's just waiting to see if I'll raise my price. Time will tell.

Honestly I would just look around, though it may be your dream car now, it could turn out to be your nightmare in the future. As other people said no VIN is a definite flag. I would do a carfax also, or ask them because I thought most dealerships offer free carfax reports with the vehicle?

It took me a couple trips to and from the dealership and a truck load of questions and walk around's to make sure I'm not getting screwed over, I made sure they were happy to see me drive off.

Also if the dealer is not giving you all the info you want, just simply walk away. If they are desperate to sell it, they will come back to you.

you guys are all too critical about this car imo.
also, I have had mine 2001 since almost new I currently have 107k on it. I did have to replace a fender way back when i got it. As far as the guy saying the clutch will be an issue in a 70k + S 107k on my original AP1 buzzy clutch and it goes like a raped ape all day long!

Seriously some comments in here make me

As far as price, its different in all areas of the country. Guy in my area recently traded a 2003 BB with 39k on it towards a 2006 the dealership wants 19,900 for his traded in 2003.

Just an example of where pricing differs geographically. In some parts of the country the S is still and always wil be a rare car in other parts of the country So Cal for Ex they are a dime a dozen. For those suggesting to make a trip out of it when buying one please be sure to add in the cost of the trip, plane flights, hotel rooms, transportation to possible purchase to inspect, long distance calls, meals, gas and temporay tags to transport it home etc. Wheres the savings there? Sure you may buy the car for less but your going to spend a chunk of it chasing the savings.

As far as the S posted by the OP That one is very
