I'm not gonna pay more than $10k for it, the 02 was nice looking in the pic, I talked to the guy, it's got original top and sat outside....he removed the side strakes and there are holes in the side of it, and he's FIRM on the price. I told him I'd give him $11k cash and he said no. If he can sit on it and wait that's up to him.

Ah ok yeah those holes are a pain unless you get side strakes again.
You really shouldn't pay more than $9 for that one since it has been in an accident and all. I know someone local to me selling an '01 with 55K for $9000.

I was gonna try offering around 9 or 9.5 I doubt they'll take that tho so I decided no more than 10. The accident, according to my mechanic, looks like it was a minor cosmetic thing.....the car I have now has been in at least 3 "minor cosmetic" accidents, lol and it's the best car I've ever had. I'm not gonna rule this one out just for that.

Ok thats true. Yeah I agree mine has had the rear bumper pushed in and a side scrape so would show two accidents and drives perfect and love it just as much as before. As long as it was nothing major than check everything mechanically. If possible do a compression test, look for leaks, make sure it shifts well, clutch grabs well, check for bouncy shocks, vibrations under load, rust anywhere etc. Would definitely be good to have the retainers inspected to see if any are cracked from an over rev as well.
Good luck! let us know how negotiating goes.

thanks, everything seems fine, the mechanic said other than some cracks in the paint job, the car is in great shape. Brakes are great, tires have good tread, I hit lots of bumps and nothing rattles, no rust. The clutch is fine, in fact I like it a lot better than the one on my Civic, lol.
I did hear a little bit of tapping from under the engine. Could be injectors, valves, or timing chain tensioner....anything else? It's not really loud but I was listening for anything.

Mine has some slight noise as well. I'm not worried about it. Probably the TCT or valves imo.
Mine has done that sometimes since I bought it. Compression tested mine and was perfect across the board.

All these people giving you advice on your car purchases should tell you what they paid for their cars, the year, and how much it was going for.
2002 s2k w/48000 miles purchased April 2007 for $17,000 which i believe was the excellent value in the KBB Guide at the time, purchased from an independent dealer. Walked into a honda dealership and told them i was looking for an 02 but didn't want to pay more than 22k for it, he took my information and never called me again. I think he must have been laughing at me as i walked out the door for thinking one could be had for less. He told me it would be hard to find this car for that price for that model year. I found the car on autotrader and i swear it must have been one of the lowest priced "S" not with a salvage title.

of course the car was not tip top, paint was not flawless with all the chips on the bumper, wheels had some minor road rash, bolster on the driver side was showing wear, windshield had chips, was missing 2 keys(valet and on regular) as well as one key fob, some minor dings and a carfax that showed minor repair in the rear, looks like the bumper had been repainted, but underneath all was original.

i was the third owner, the carfax showed that the second owner only put 900 miles on the car before getting rid of it.

had been completely trouble free untill just recently when my clutch started slipping at 78k miles and TCT started doing it's rattle.

Yeah..definitely stay away from that S2K.

One good rule of thumb is ...if you have even a SLIGHT feeling that this car is bad.....run...don't walk. hahaha

And anyway, 13K for that S2K is wayyy too much. Definitely; I am friends with a lot of dealers and go on their auction websites with their passwords....yellow S2K's that are 2001 with that high mileage go for around $8000 at the auctions....

but just stay away .... this looks and sounds so fishy.
