Default Hello!

Hey guys I'm new to the site and to S2000's.
Ive been looking for the perfect one and had no idea there were so many differences!
I'm looking to spend about 15-16k and i've read the FAQ and decided that i want an 02 or 03.
Do you guys think spending the extra money to get an ap2 is worth it?
I drive a 1990 CRX right now and want to basically store it and drive an S for a daily.
But here is my dilemma, I could buy an ap1 for about 15k or less and use the extra money to make it nicer (lower it etc.) so im kind of stuck lol.
Could you guys give me some advice as to what you think i should do?
What made you buy your ap1 or ap2 versus the other?

Thanks, Logan

Oh and BTW this site is pretty awesome!

Hi Logan...for $15-$16k you should be able to get pretty much what you really want. A nice AP1, or an AP2. I think spending the extra money for an AP2 is worth it if you like the exterior features of it a lot more. If you can survive and be happy with the looks of an AP1, then I would go with that. I've driven both several times and owned an AP1, and I really saw a minimal difference. To be honest, I liked the way the AP1s drove more. The AP2 apparently has more torque, but that's like saying "The new Ford Explorer has better handling than the older model." The handling is still horrible on a big SUV like that, while the torque comparison is not worthy of noting on either car (the AP1 or AP2). It still has barely any torque either way. As far as modding, the mod bug hits most buyers, so again if you are in a position where you have to be a little conservative, go for the less expensive car.

And why not drive the CRX daily even if you have the S? Trust me, I love the S but it's always a nice thing to have another car for cold weather/commuting/traffic, etc. It isn't exactly the roomiest car ever made. There's my $.02, good luck.

I used to drive a '89 CRX Si b4 buying my CR. I regret the decision of selling my CRX now. I wish I still had it for bad weather. As far as AP1 or AP2, either car is awesome but I prefer the AP2. Mainly because I think the AP2s have a better interior and I like the lights(head&tail) & the looks of the front bumper more than the AP1. Good luck in your search for the S!

Here's a pic of my old CRX.

Thanks for the replies guys!
Yeah there is no way im getting rid of my CRX.
It's my baby but they are getting harder and harder to find in the condition mine is in, i will still drive it but i will tell my insurance that i only put a certain amount of miles on it so its not so expensive.

The only mods i really want are decent rims with some good offset (its totally different in the S world than other hondas) and lower it.
I love the Mugen hardtops as well but they are a bit spendy lol.

I've driven both of my brothers Ap1's and I loved them!
From what i've read the Ap1's have a 9k redline while Ap2's have 8200?
I definitely loved wrapping out my brothers till 9k it was like a 2 stroke lol.
And around here Ap2's are around 20k and thats a little much.

Are either cheaper/ more expensive to maintain or mod?

Also i was reading that something changes in the Ap1 differentials versus the Ap2's.
Can anybody verify this? Will i have problems if i buy an Ap1?
I dont know much about differentials since i've been into FWD Honda's my whole life.
