Hello to all fellow s2000 owners
After a lengthy process of decision making between purchasing a 2nd hand MX5 or Z4 I finally decided on the S2000.
Finally managed to find a straight (though CatC damaged repaired in 2012) 2002 S2000 with genuine 64k on the clock from a local dealer at I hope a what seemed a bargain price.
Car is in silver with red/black interior and came with aftermarket hardtop in which previous owner had a sunroof installed? he has fitted a bodykit comprising of side skirts and lowers to front and rear bumpers and Zun sport mesh to front grill. Also came with indoor full car cover and was fitted with Sony DAB radio, just had a parrot tablet unit installed to complete my requirements.
It was on a private plate and the previous owner took it off as he sold it to the dealer and sent of the V5, I bought it before the V5 was returned and from that point on ended up dealing with DVLA trying to get the car taxed.
Finally after 5 weeks several calls a fax and a copy of the VIC document as they had no record of it (despite being stamped by local office in June 2012)
I got my tax and had my 1st proper drive
unfortunately after replacing the battery which died to to not being used
The strange thing was as I pointed out to DVLA they registered the car to my name and address after 2 days of getting the application so they would know where to send the fine if I had decided to use it anyway.
Just looking forward to weekend for another drive.

Car has a few issues but working my way through them
Annoying rattle at 5,000rpm turned out to be heatshield under car bolts rusted through, replaced and no noise
New Discs and pads on rear and new pads and caliper service on fronts
Next new clutch fluid to see if eases firm clutch pedal (done fluid replaced much better now)
Rear light misted up will be removing, baking in oven, sealing the joint etc and possibly drill couple of holes in base to keep ventilated.
Finally trip back to dealer who sold me the car as the SRS light is on and someone's idea of fixing it was to put a small patch of insulation tape over it only saw it when I came to clean it today, pulled it off and there it was
Fortunately dealer has already responded to my email and will sort out the problem under warranty

Thanks Guys
Despite the list of issues I have had so far they are all forgiven when I get behind the wheel, warm up the engine and then unleash the VTEC
Hardtop stand and cover has just been delivered so will be looking at the start of the bank holiday weekend to remove hardtop and put it into my storage locker for what is hopefully going to be a dry hot summer!

Congrats on the new S2000 and welcome to the forum. Just got my 2007 S2000 and love the car. From a pure sports car perspective and compared to the Miata and Z4, the S2000 is the best choice. It's my 4 wheel motorcycle.
Take care,
Rick
